Doctor Zein did not hasten, nor did he linger. His pace was eerily constant, as though each step had already been preordained. With unshaken composure, he hauled the battered frame of Hendri towards the emergency stairwell and began his descent from the fifth floor. SKRRRCH… SKRRRCH... The grotesque rasp of flesh and fabric dragging against concrete reverberated through the narrow shaft, a sound more dreadful than any scream, monotonous, deliberate, and merciless. As they reached the fourth floor, a cluster of nurses emerged from the corridor. Their footsteps faltered at the sight before them. One nurse gasped, her face drained of colour. The clipboard in her hand slipped from her grasp, clattering to the floor with a sharp crack. “Dear heavens! That’s… that’s Mr Hendri!” “Someone quick! Record this!” another cried, fumbling for her phone, her voice trembling between shock and disbelief. Several people immediately pulled out their phones. Some covertly began recording, while others, unashamed and caught up in the excitement, brazenly began streaming live. On the third floor, a visitor, half in shock, let out an anxious laugh, pressing the LIVE button on their social media app. “Guys! You won’t believe this! This is real, not some soap opera!” Live streams began to appear one after another, the comments flooding in rapidly. “Handsome doctor gone mad, dragging someone like a corpse!” “Who’s that? Terrifying but strangely handsome!” “Is this a hospital or a slaughterhouse?” On the second floor, two patients in the waiting area stood rooted to the spot, their eyes transfixed by the sight of the figure in medical attire descending the stairs, dragging the lifeless body behind him. One of them muttered in disbelief, “That... That’s Doctor Zein, isn’t it? Bloody hell... He’s not human. He’s a monster…” Whispers began to ripple through the hospital staff who recognised both the doctor and the man being dragged. But none of them made a move to stop it. The icy aura surrounding Doctor Zein was suffocating. Anyone who dared meet his eyes would quickly think better of it, their feet frozen in place. On the ground floor, the scene had become a frenzy. A crowd of visitors had gathered before the emergency staircase, all holding their phones aloft. The air was thick with anticipation, the buzz of whispered conversations interspersed with the occasional snap of a camera. And then, as if emerging from the shadows of a nightmare, Doctor Zein appeared, dragging Hendri behind him. His face was barely recognisable, a grotesque mask of swelling and blood, his body lifeless and limp. The moment they stepped into the open, the lobby erupted into chaos. Shouts of horror and disbelief filled the air, some visitors shrieking in panic, others recoiling in disgust. A few stumbled backwards, one collapsing to the floor in a faint, while others rushed to the side, their hands trembling as they pressed phones to their faces. But far from being repelled, the majority stood transfixed, their eyes glued to the spectacle, their cameras recording every moment. Some laughed nervously, the absurdity of the scene seemingly too much to process. Others, unable to look away, muttered in disbelief, as though this was all some kind of twisted prank, a cruel joke played on them. Yet none of them dared to move. The figure of Doctor Zein, calm and collected amidst the pandemonium, cast a dark shadow over them all, his presence a chilling reminder of the power he wielded. Captions began to emerge across the internet : “Handsome Doctor Goes Berserk Again!” “Real-Life Action! Derisa Hospital in Chaos!!” “Like a Movie! But It’s All Real!” “Seriously, who even is this guy? It’s going viral!” But none of them knew the doctor's true identity. Only the hospital staff were privy to the truth, and they chose to keep their silence. After wreaking havoc that sent ripples of shock through the entire hospital, Doctor Zein at last arrived before the door of the meeting hall. With a steady, yet unmistakably tense stride, he dragged Hendri’s nearly lifeless body towards the grandest room in the Derisa Hospital, the hall most commonly used for the hospital’s high-level meetings. BANG! The door to the hall was flung open with a savage force, the sound of it crashing resonating through the entire first floor. Without uttering a word, Doctor Zein discarded Hendri’s body in the centre of the room, as one might toss aside a worthless object. Hendri let out a low, agonised groan, his body twitching weakly on the cold, unforgiving floor. His face was a swollen mass of bruises, his lips split and blood dripping from his temple, his once recognisable features now distorted beyond recognition. Meanwhile, Doctor Zein, his expression as cold as the steel around him, moved purposefully toward the front of the hall. He seated himself in the chair that would ordinarily be occupied by the director or the head of the hospital during meetings, and settled into the position with an air of quiet authority. He drew out his phone from his coat pocket, and with a calm, yet steely tone, he dialled Mr Widodo’s number. “Mr Widodo, contact every employee immediately!” His voice was firm, reverberating through the cavernous hall. “Yes... RIGHT NOW! And call back all the staff who’ve been let go! I expect them in the hall at once!” Doctor Zein continued, his words carrying a weight of finality. Without waiting for a reply, he ended the call abruptly, leaning back in the large chair, his eyes piercing forward with unwavering focus. On the floor, Hendri, writhing in pain, managed to rasp a few curses through gritted teeth. “You bastard, Zein... You... You’ll have to answer for all of this... It’s... madness...!” But Doctor Zein remained unshaken, his gaze not once leaving the front of the hall. His face was impassive, but the cold, unyielding aura around him seemed to fill the room, enveloping it in silence. His arms were crossed over his chest, his legs casually crossed, and his eyes bore the intense, predatory focus of someone waiting for the battlefield to unfold. Meanwhile, the staff, having received the urgent calls through the loudspeakers and emergency messages in their hospital group chats, began to filter into the hall. Their faces were a mixture of confusion, curiosity, and growing trepidation. A few former employees, those who had been dismissed, also returned, summoned by the direct phone calls from the hospital administration.
