Caius and Enyora stood before an imposing tent, its fabric billowing gently in the breeze. "This is it," Caius said, his voice steady yet infused with an undercurrent of anticipation. "She's waiting for you inside." With a determined nod, Enyora pushed aside the curtain and stepped into the dimly lit interior. As she entered, her gaze swept across the space. The tent was surprisingly neat and meticulously organized, yet the table at its center was an eclectic tapestry of potion bottles, dried herbs, and scattered sheets of parchment. Curiosity tugged at her, and she approached the table, her fingers brushing over the various items. Picking up a sprig of herb, she brought it to her nose, inhaling deeply. The fragrance was intoxicating—a delightful blend of sweetness and freshness that beckoned to her senses, evoking an almost irresistible urge to taste it. "The scent is enchanting, isn’t it?" a voice suddenly chimed from behind her, causing Enyora to startle and whirl around. Standing before her was a woman of striking presence, her long grey hair cascading elegantly down her back. Though age had etched lines upon her face, she stood with an air of vitality, exuding a sense of wisdom and strength. "It is indeed a remarkable herb," the woman continued, her voice smooth and melodic. "Used both as a soothing tea and a potent medicine. However," she leaned in slightly, her expression turning serious, "be cautious; an overdose can lead to vivid hallucinations, blurring the line between reality and imagination." With a knowing smile, she gestured toward the table, inviting Enyora to explore the myriad wonders that lay before her. "I'm truly sorry; I didn’t mean to touch it," Enyora stammered, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment as she glanced at the myriad of herbs and potions. The woman merely waved her hand dismissively, a gentle smile gracing her lips. "I don’t mind," she replied, her tone soothing and warm. With a graceful motion, she settled onto a plush cushion and gestured towards the empty seat across from her. Enyora took the hint, her heart racing as she moved to join her. She kept her gaze lowered, feeling the weight of the moment. "I am Ewelin." the woman introduced herself, extending her hand with an inviting smile. Enyora hesitated for a heartbeat before shaking her hand, the warmth of Ewelin’s grasp easing her nerves. "Enyora." she replied softly, her voice barely above a whisper. "I hear Isellda's children found you." Ewelin remarked, her keen eyes studying Enyora’s face. The younger woman nodded, a flicker of uncertainty crossing her features. "If the waters had chosen to carry you elsewhere, we wouldn’t be having this conversation." Ewelin continued, her voice rich with implication. A moment of silence hung between them, thick with unspoken histories and possibilities. "As you may know, I am the protector of this village," Ewelin said, her tone shifting to one of pride. "Two hundred weavers reside here, all of whom remain hidden from prying eyes. If you wish, you are more than welcome to stay among us.” Enyora’s expression softened, her heart aching with the weight of Ewelin’s words. "I can’t," she replied, her voice laced with sorrow. "I must find my sister." The determination in her gaze betrayed the deep longing within her soul, a quest that could not be forsaken, even in the face of sanctuary. “What happened to her?” Ewelin inquired, her voice gentle yet probing. “She was caught by hunters.” Enyora replied, her tone heavy with sorrow. Ewelin's expression shifted momentarily, filled with concern. Then, as if drawn by a thought that danced just out of reach, she asked, “Can you weave properly?” Taken aback by the abruptness of the question, Enyora hesitated. “I’m not sure,” she admitted, her brow furrowing in uncertainty. “The first time I tried, I failed miserably. But the last time…” Her voice trailed off, a mixture of pride and regret surfacing in her eyes. “I managed to control the earth and kill an orc.” “Then that means you need more practice,” Ewelin said, her voice firm yet encouraging. “The things you wish to achieve require time and effort. If you give up easily, you will remain stagnant, forever tethered to the same spot.” Ewelin paused, allowing the weight of her words to settle in the air. “Fate has brought you here for a reason. Do not squander this opportunity.” Enyora’s brow knit together in unease. A month had passed since her sister’s capture, and the uncertainty gnawed at her insides like a relentless beast. She couldn’t shake the haunting questions that plagued her thoughts: Was Eanor still alive? Had she endured torment beyond imagination? The mere thought of her sister suffering was a wound too deep to bear, and Enyora fought to keep the tears at bay, unwilling to surrender to despair. "But I have no time to waste!" Enyora implored, desperation lacing her voice as she looked into Ewelin’s eyes. “You can help me, can’t you? With the other witches!” Ewelin’s brow furrowed, and she shook her head slowly, a shadow of regret crossing her features. “I can only assist you in enhancing your magic. I was born here, as were the others. Our ancestors forged a pact with the ancient kings, trading their allegiance for a sanctuary in this land. Thus, we are bound to it until the end of time.” A wave of shame washed over Enyora, her heart heavy with the fear for her sister’s safety. The thought that no one would help her on this perilous journey was almost unbearable. Yet, deep within her, a flicker of resolve ignited. She would take matters into her own hands if necessary. With renewed determination etched across her face, Enyora lifted her chin and declared, “When do we start?” Ewelin’s expression transformed, a proud smile blooming on her lips. “Tomorrow. You will meet your fellow sisters. But for now, I encourage you to explore your surroundings.” Grateful for the opportunity, Enyora stepped out of the tent into the fresh air, her senses awakening at once. As she emerged, she spotted Caius crouched on the ground, his posture relaxed yet attentive, waiting patiently for her return. She straightened, a sense of purpose coursing through her veins as she approached him. “How did it go?” he asked, his eyes searching hers for the answers. “I’m going to learn with her,” Enyora replied, a touch of excitement breaking through her earlier anxiety. “She said we’re starting tomorrow and wants me to explore for now.” Caius nodded, a gleam of enthusiasm lighting his features. “Then I would be delighted to show you around,” he said, rising to his feet with a friendly grin. Together, they set off, the promise of adventure ahead, and with it, the faint hope of finding the strength to rescue her sister.
