Candramawa is ready with all the conditions for the ritual. She started the requirement by reciting a prayer like a Weesa, as Garg taught her about it. A rhyme, the mother of all spells in the world comes from her mouth. It had been over a hundred times since Marlon left. Since Felis was raging and unconscious. Candramawa did not stop chanting.
She tried to think clearly. She must always be beside Felis and she will not let Lumons' future fall apart because the only future savior dies here. Even before Felis knew what she could do. Because of the corruption of the Coalition.
"How comes Marlon?" Felis choked on her tears. She was still lying on her bed. Her body stiffened, Felis angry, disappointed, but too hurt to get out of bed.
Marlon was still looking down. Candramawa could see his father's tears welling up in the corners of his eyes. She wanted to erase it. But she also felt betrayed. Her father was not only weak. Her father was a coward, and Marlon let Markus feed the innocent Weesa with lies.
“I'll hunt them…” Felis sobbed. "I'll—" Her breaths caught up with each other. The girl squeezed the blanket, trying to get up with all the strength she had so the holes with the blackened lines slowly opened at the seams and the blood spilled out again.
"Don't move too fast, Felis!" Candramawa restrained her.
But Felis paid no heed to the warning. She didn't care how many stitches Candramawa had to repeat later when she managed to face her mother's future husband's face.
“Listen, Marlon, I wouldn't have a cowardly father like you, you know? How will you protect my mother? You even let those people pour maggots over Genta's corpse! Oh, God!” Felis fell again. Her body shivered. Her sweat broke through the skin without waiting.
"Go, Father!" Candramawa snapped at her father. She couldn't bear to see Marlon cursed in that way.
Yes, Felis is not the only one who doesn't like it that way. But, Marlon must have other considerations. And he wouldn't want to talk about it now.
Marlon rose from his seat, awkwardly touching his daughter's shoulder. He left the room with a broken heart. He loves Mrs. Furla. Although not as much as Candramawa's mother. He couldn't understand why God always predestined a wife of a different kind for him. First a Reeda, then a normal human now. This suffering might be over if he accepted Laureen's love from the start.
But, he will not be able to live with people he does not love.
Felis—now the girl could no longer speak. Her eyes were tightly closed, her heartbeat so deep and weak. Candramawa patted her cheek while calling the girl's name.
“Felis…”
No movement. The girl's heart rate slowed down.
Candrawa massaged her forehead, thinking. So far, the Lumons have been killed by Aisikla. No one has ever survived this long before eventually dying. Panic slowly crept up Candramawa's back.
Jesse and the rest of the Coalition would sooner or later come here to end their lies. They will take Felis, and ensure her death.
There is no other way but to perform the ritual. Candramawa must save Felis from death and take her away from Este as quickly as possible.
Candramawa knows that she has unique and different magical abilities from Lumons in general. Besides being able to read other people's heads, she can heal quickly from her wounds.
As a child, she often played with Afrore. An active child's Candramawa, she often falls or plays with dangerous things, such as climbing into the trunk of an Alfrore tree—even before the tree can move as it is now. Until her body was injured and she cried home because she was sulking. But when she got home, her mother would be confused, because all the wounds she had complained about had disappeared from their place. With no trace.
Until the last time, her cheek was scratched—when the first time she met Felis. In a few moments, the wound disappeared. So Felis herself felt confused.
Candramawa knew her blood could heal Felis quickly. Easy. It was Garg who told him about the secret. Candramawa can heal, but she can't tell anyone that. Because if anyone found out, everyone would be hunting for her blood as medicine—a talisman. If that happens, peace will no longer exist.
The problem is, Candramawa isn't sure about the consequences if she heals Felis' wounds. Felis couldn't stand the smell of blood. The girl blinked every time she smelled blood. Humans, let alone Seeka. Candramawa gets goosebumps when she remembers the incident in the hut in the middle of the pine forest.
Maybe Felis would finish her off before she could run and hide. But, if it wasn't that way, Candramawa wasn't sure that Felis would recover in time. All the organs in Felis' body have been damaged. Or worse, if Candramawa doesn't decide quickly, Felis will be handicapped for life.
Then Garg's death and Candramawa's waiting all this time would be in vain. Chandramawa took a deep breath. She sat next to a girl whose life was only a matter of hours. Candramawa prepared everything. Say a prayer to feel calmer.
Creator of the three worlds,
The source of all colors and life
Shine your light on conscience
Guide us to the bright path
(quoted from the book of Colors, p. 108)
And so on, until Candramawa felt calmer. Candramawa was standing next to Felis. She stretched her hand over Felis' head, while from the other hand a golden blue Aisikla was sticking out.
Candramawa scratched her palm nervously. The prayer was now heard clearly along with the pain she felt running over her skin.
"Lead us to the path of light," whispered Candramawa.
Her blood was pitch black. It dripped on Felis' forehead. Slowly flowing down her cheeks, then like a magnetic force, the liquid seeped into the holes in Felis' body.
Felis's eyes opened suddenly, she grabbed the source of the wound from Candramawa's hand, too fast that Candramawa didn't have time to dodge. She squealed. The girl named Felis, who almost died, is now resurrected. But Candramawa no longer recognized the look in the eyes of the girl in front of her.
"Creator of the three worlds, the source of all color and life." The remnants of the spell scattered due to Candramawa's panic.
Felis' wound closed without a trace. Now only a brownish-red stain is left there. Candramawa blinked. Deeper and slower. She was afraid to die, it turns out.
"You're not what I'm looking for. Get out quickly!” snapped Felis.
“You're a Reeda, I don't want you to leave here and kill carelessly. Not until you can control everything.” Candramawa, her voice trembled. But she was trying to be brave. She
didn't take a step back. Even if this is the end of it all.
“I am a Reeda, I have created in hell with a purpose.” Felis slammed Candramawa's body next to her and then crawled on top of her. Her Aisikla was too big for their distance now.
Felis doesn't know how to control magic yet, and she doesn't care.
"My mother is a Reeda, but she doesn't kill," said Candramawa, regretting all her actions.
"That's why your mother was killed." Felis can read Candramawa's mind.
At the same time, Felis inhaled all of Candramawa's grudge. So, with a strange feeling, Candramawa felt calm. However, this discrepancy left her confused. How could a Reeda make her feel this peaceful? Is this what happened to the Seeka woman in the hut?
“Go or…” Felis didn't wait, she threw Candramawa's body away. With her naked body, she jumped lightly, wearing whatever she found in her closet without choosing—then perched on the window, ready to hunt.
"Felis, wait," Candramawa called. Her voice was soaked in the blood flowing from her mouth. She wasn't sure what she had just hit.
Felis turned her head, Candramawa didn't want to waste time. Not even a sec.
“That Seeka's name is Jesse. A mad woman who now only has one arm.” At the very least, getting Felis focused on just one person would probably make a big difference. Felis did not answer, in an instant she was gone. The Reeda jumped lightly out there.
Candramawa knew after this the real war would begin. What she was experiencing right now was probably just a stroke of luck. Candramawa has made a mistake. And now, she will not stop before taking responsibility for her actions. She had to find Marlon as soon as possible.Download Novelah App
