Chapter 40 Doing Errands
BELLE'S P.O.V
"Should I wear this?"
May looked at the dress that I was showing her.
"I don't think that will fit you, my lady."
I look at the dress again.
"Why do you think so?" I asked.
"Well, It doesn't suit you, my lady. "
"Oh, is that so? Then I need to change it and look for another dress."
We are now looking for a dress that I will use later when going to the palace.
Inodin gave me a dozen dresses.
That is why I have a dress that I can wear today.
"I should pay In Odin for these dresses."
May shook her head.
"You don't have to, my lady. We talked about it already."
They talk about what?
"About what?"
"About the dresses. Inodin said that she was so inspired to create a dress."
"Is that so? But I know it would cost her so much money because materials for a dress like this are not cheap. And if she is giving me dozens of dresses for just a month, wouldn't it cost her a lot?"
May shook her head.
"You don't have to worry about that because it is her decision. And besides, she is rich. So it is unlikely that she will be broke after giving you this much dress."
"Then I think I should give her at least half of the cost?"
"Let's not talk about it, my lady. Anyway, I think this will suit you," May said, changing the subject.
Will it be alright if I don't pay her? She is giving me so much.
We tried a few dresses until we settled on a yellow and white dress.
"That compliments you, my lady."
I looked at the dress.
She nodded her head but tilted it after a while.
"Why is there something wrong?"
"No, my lady. It's just that I think something is missing.
I look in the mirror.
My reflection is already good, and I don't think something is missing.
"What could it be?" I asked her. She places her hand on her chin like a genius, thinking.
"Oh, that's it!"
"What is it?" she didn't answer me, but instead, she went to my drawer, then she pulled something from the box.
"This will enhance your beauty, my lady."
I looked at what she held, and I saw beautiful yellow and white jewelry. It has the same color as the dress.
"Wow, that seems pretty nice and might look proud."
"I know that this will complement your dress, my lady."
I blushed a little as she said.
"You don't have to say that."
"Why not? I am telling the truth."
May put the necklace on me.
When I look at my reflection in the mirror, I see that it complements me. This attire should be enough. I don't want to wear any jewelry pieces anymore because I am uncomfortable with them. It doesn't flatter my style.
I wear the hat that comes together with the dress and ask for May's help to put on the shoes because the dress requires a hard time nailing down.
"You should sit, my lady."
I did what she said, and in the end, she was the only one who put my shoes on me.
"Thank you, May."
"You are always welcome, my lady."
We should get going. After all, I still need to drop by a cafe because I want to bring something before meeting Charlotte, the princess. I don't want to go there empty-handed since I have caused a commotion before.
However, I am nervous about the purpose of the princess' sudden invitation. I am still looking forward to our meetIng. I can't remember how many times I prayed last night to go smoothly and quietly. I don't want to be anyone's enemy, especially the princess. I don't think I can sleep if I know that the princess is mad at me. We are not on good terms. That has been my most hated feeling ever since I was born.
I don't know why I feel this, but when I know that someone is mad at me, I can't sleep, and it always haunts me. It feels like I am always guilty about it even though I am not the reason, and I didn't do anything to make them hate me.
"Should we go now, my lady?" May asked me.
"Yes, let's go."
Hendrick left early this morning because he said he had something else to do. I can't do anything about it.
First, I am not his friend. Since I can't do anything about it, I let him go even though it hurts my heart.
Now, it's Arkanghel and May who will be accompanying me to the palace.
It's a miracle that May we're accompanying me because she doesn't really like to go to the palace.
I am not sure what changed her decision, but it is good news for me since I really want her to accompany me every time I go to the palace.
"Wow, you look nice!"
I was shocked to see Arkanghel.
He really changed.
"You look like a real knight now, like someone born a knight."
I teased him, and he blushed a little, then said, "Stop it, my lady."
"We should get going now."
I was happy to see him change for the better, but I felt uncomfortable, so I stopped chasing him and told them that we would depart this instant.
One thing that arises to me is that May already rents a carriage.
She just told me about it this morning, so I am shocked to know about it.
I also asked her who would drive it, and she told me that there is someone she hires to do that for us every time we go somewhere.
"Hello," I greeted the coachman.
He looked young to be a coachman.
When he saw me, he bowed at me. Now, that is unbelievable. He really is a respectful one.
"I greet the lady of this house. It is a pleasure to serve you."
Wow, look at that!
"I am also happy to see you. We will be in your care from now on," I told him.
He looked happy that he couldn't contain his smile.
"I will make your trip safe and enjoyable, my lady."
I smiled at him.
He looks like he's kind of shy.
"I am looking forward to that, then," I told him.
We rode the carriage and started to depart to go to the palace.
"The both of you look nice."
I told Arkanghel and May.
"I always look nice," May, as usual, said.
"I know, but you look different this time."
"What do you mean different?"
"You look like a king's attendant," she raised her eyebrows.
"That's so impossible, my lady. How did you even think of that?"
"I just thought that you look like that."
I didn't tell her, but her outfit for today looks like those I read in some comic. Someone that is serving someone in a high position in the palace.
That stern but reliable assistant look. She dressed like that today. She is also giving me that expression.
Is this a sign that I should let her go somewhere and find whatever will make her happy?
Why would I do that? She is not asking about that, so she's not open to that topic. Ohh, now that I'm thinking about that.
"Arkanghel, aren't you going to study?"
Arkanghel looked at me.
"What do you mean, my lady?"
"I mean, aren't you going to have a proper education? You are still young, and you can study at an academy."
He looked unbothered.
"I don't like to study, my lady."
"But why? That will also help you in your future jobs, and if you want to achieve something one day, I think you need to have a proper education. Don't worry about the expenses because I will provide them for you."
If Arkanghel will be George's knight, he really needs to study.
Arkanghel shook his head.
"I don't want to study, my lady. I will just continue being your knight."
"No, you can study if you like it."
"I don't like it, my lady."
"You know what, it is also needed for you to study since you will stand beside the lady, and there are other knights that have an even higher education than you. Education will serve as a license to be the ladies' knight more than you. So you choose," May butted in.
"No, May, what are you saying? You don't have to say that to Arkanghel."
"It's okay. If you don't like to study, you can just ignore those words from the other knights even though it's one of the skills of the counts."
Arkanghel didn't answer; he seemed really bothered by what May said.
I looked and stared at her, but she just shrugged at me.
After a few hours, we arrived at the palace. May was the first to get out of the carriage, followed by Arkanghel. They both guided me to go down the carriage, although I could do it myself.
When we arrived at the main gate, the princess's knight, Josh, welcomed us.
"I see that you are here already, lady Belle," he said.
"We can also see that, you know," May on my side whispered.
"Hey, what are you talking about? Don't talk like that," I also whispered to her. Thankfully, the butler didn't seem to notice what May said.
He smiled at us and told us that he would guide us to the princess.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome, my lady. "
He guided us to go to the garden of the palace.
"Will it be okay to bring my knight and my maid?"
The butler nodded.
"There's no problem with that, my lady."
Now, I'm sitting here together with the princess and her friends.
"You have a handsome butler, lady Belle," one of the princess' friends said.
"Oh, he's my knight," I told them.
"Wow, you have a handsome knight. Would you mind if you borrowed him?"
They all laughed.
"What kind of question is that?" the princess asked.
"What do you mean by that?"
"Is it a common courtesy to let someone borrow your knight?"
The princess doesn't seem to like what they have done.
"If you're disrespecting one of my guests, I think you should leave this party," the princess strictly said.
Her friend's mouth shut.
"We are sorry, princess."
"Then you apologize one by one."
Although they seemed insincere, the princess still accepted their apologies.
"So I heard that you went to the north."
The princess focuses her gaze on me
"How was it?" she added.
How did she know that I went to the north?
Although I am wondering, I still answer her question.
"It was nice, princess. Although it's tiring, the people there are nice to me even though I am not from the south. They still treat me like their own."
I am talking about Hendrick's party since I haven't encountered anyone other than Alfonso and Hendrick's friends.
"That's nice," she replied, then continued the tea party.
The tea party went smoothly.
After that, the princess told me that I could visit her in the palace whenever I had free time. Although I was shocked because we were not that close for her to invite me and tell me that I could go to the palace anytime I wanted, I still thank her for giving me that chance.
It is pretty amusing to see the princess.
But all the time, when her friends direct their attention on me, it feels like she wants me to just be there. Not to entertain her friends and other nobles, but to let me know about her friends.
All I can see is that the princess is not mad at me anymore, and I can also feel that she has no bad intention of inviting me here. Even though all she does is talk to her friends and watch.
I don't know her purpose for doing that, but I am still happy that I could meet and talk to the princess.
The tea party with the princess went smoothly, and now I am here to meet Charlotte. Thankfully, the princess let us borrow Josh because we don't know where to find charlotte.
"Don't you want to rest first, my lady?" May, who is walking beside me, asked me
"Hmm… Of course, I want to rest. But I think I need to do this first to have the chance to rest freely later."
"If that is what you want, my lady."
We continue to walk towards where Charlotte is.
She mentioned where we should look for her if you got here in the palace.
I don't think that she knows that we are here now.
Even if I have only known her just for a short time, I can tell that she is not the kind of person who will let her guests wander around. It's her party, after all.
After many turns, Josh told us that we were finally here in front of Charlotte's office.
"Thank you for helping us, Josh."
"No worries, lady Belle."
Josh didn't let us ask before leaving through a massive door without guards and signs.
On top of the doorknob is a round metal that I think we'll be used to knocking. So I held my stomach and knocked three times.
After a few seconds, I heard Charlotte's voice from inside.
"Come in."
If she lets us in just like that, isn't she going to ask who we are, lady Belle?" Arkanghel asks me.
I stare at the door, and I think we should really come.
"But let's think about it later since Charlotte herself is the one who opens the door."
As soon as I entered the room, I saw Charlotte sitting at her table.
She was shocked after she saw me.
"Lady Belle?" she asks as if she confirms that I am really the person she is calling right now.
I nodded my head and gave her a bow.
"Yes, it is me. It is a pleasure to meet you, lady Charlotte."
She still looks shocked.
"Why didn't you tell me that you are here?"
I don't want you to travel with me since I think you have a lot of work, I told her.
Although that is true, the main reason why I don't want to tell her that we are coming right now it's because I know for sure that she will prepare something extravagant since we are going here to the palace, not to those restaurants that we used to meet you for after charlotte come down she told us to sit on the sala set beside her table.
we talked about the business boutique, and it went smoothly, so I want to tell you that the building is halfway done, and with the help of magic, I can assure you that it will be done in less than a month, she said
I am happy to see that she is really dedicated to this project, but I realized something.
According to our idea, I will design the first product that we will release at the opening of the boutique. But as of now, I haven't done anything.
What am I doing? I shouldn't be resting all day!
I regret resting yesterday after we talked about what we should do at the boutique.
I've decided to go home.
"Can't we go to the festival first, my lady?" May suddenly spoke.
"Is there a festival here?"
She nodded.
"Why didn't I know that?"
"If you want to come, then, of course, you can."
I can see the excitement on Rachel's face.
"This is the first time he will go to a festival."
But isn't he living in a village near the mansion? Or, maybe there's no festival there so they wish we went to the festival.Download Novelah App
