Chapter 33

On the trip, Gaby won’t talk, she’s just silent. Clark looks at her occasionally.
“Hey, you’re silent,” said Clark. “Don’t tell me you’re just being obliged to come.”
“It’s not like that. It’s just I don’t know what to say.” Gaby said. It’s as though we are so far away from the university. ”
“We’re way away from SU,” Clark said, smiling.
“Where are we going?” said Gaby.
“Somewhere you can enjoy!” said Clark.
“Why don’t you say where? You know, you are making me nervous,” Gaby says.
Clark wasn’t saying anything. Instead, he took Gaby’s hand, which surprised Gaby, pressed her hand, and held it again. Even if he changes gears, he never drops Gaby’s hand.
“Why are we holding hands?” asked Gaby.
“Perhaps you’ll suddenly disappear,” said Clark.
Gaby all suddenly laughed at what Clark said. “Where am I off to?”
“To Dylan.” Clark meant it in earnest.
The smile disappeared from Gaby’s lips, her forehead furrowed. “What do you mean?” Gaby asked
Clark never said a word. Afterward, they entered a large parking lot. They can see plenty of cars in the area. When Clark came down, he opened the car door for Gaby and she got out of the car. Clark immediately grabbed her hand, his fingers intertwined with hers.
Gaby heard noises. They went directly to the tent, and they also went outside. Clark didn’t let go and even squeezed her hand while they were going out the other way was crowded.
“Is there anything here?” Gaby asked.
Clark didn’t hear her, so she clung her hand around Clark’s neck and forced him down at the level of her face. Her actions surprised Clark. Then she brought her lip to his ear.
“What’s going on here? What’s with all these people? ” Gaby asked.
It surprised her when Clark suddenly grabbed her with one arm while the other was still holding her hand.
“This is a live concert, babe!” said Clark
Gaby suddenly felt nervous, but she wasn’t sure about Clark’s words made her nervous if it was her dream to watch a live band or hear the word “babe”.
Suddenly, the shout grew louder. Clark slightly flipped her over and staged her. She couldn’t believe it. They were in the foreground where the group could reach them and what he wasn’t expecting was to see his favorite Filipino Band on stage.
Even though he was in Canada, he knew the band Parokya ni Edgar. On the day of her last birthday before the accident, her cousin gave her a complete album of the band. She has all their songs there, and she loved their songs, so she sought the band and found out that they are popular in the Philippines and one of OPM’s legendary bands. She followed that group to Spotify. It was as if she was dreaming when the band singing.
‘Thank you, Lord, for another dream to come true!’ Gaby thought.
Almost halfway through the concert, he still couldn’t keep his eyes off Gaby. The happiness he saw in the girl’s eyes and face was different. It was like her wish was granted. Turning back towards him, the woman smiled. This also coincides with the public and group singing. Clark didn’t notice how much he loved watching the girl more than the concert before him.
It surprised Clark when Gaby’s grip on his hand suddenly tightened, even though they were holding hands before. She stared at the group on stage and smiled. Your Song intro. Gaby closed her eyes until she could sing.
“It took one look
And forever layout in front of you
One smile, then I die
Only to revived by you….
Clark just stared at Gaby as she accompanied the band singing, her eyes closed as if she was savoring every word and sound. The noise was loud, but all he could hear was the voice of Gaby singing.
“I think I’m falling for you already, Gaby!” Clark said.
Clark raised their hand while holding one another and applied the back of Gaby’s hand to his lips to kiss her. Gaby suddenly looked up and looked at him. He just smiled and re-focused his gaze on the stage. She smiled, even though she did not hear what he said.
The concert lasted for 3 hours, including pictures for the fans. When they got into the car, Clark wouldn’t start the engine first. He turned to Gaby.
“I suppose I made you happy today,” said Clark.
The girl looked at him. She was looking earlier at the CD she was holding with the band member’s signature.
“You just don’t make me happy. You made my dream come true, Clark! Thank you.” Gaby said, smiling.
Clark’s heart felt like it was blowing. A sweet smile accompanies the truthfulness of Gaby’s statement. It even surprised him when she put her arms around him. It was fast, but for him, it was like forever.
“It’s not just stealing a kiss you can do, so you can also fill out the ones on my wish list,” says Gaby.
Clark laughed at what Gaby said. He started to start the car engine.
“You love their song, Your Song. Why?” Clark asked.
“The melody is magnificent and, of course, the lyrics,” said Gaby.
“Do you know the story behind the song?” Clark asked.
Gaby shook her head. “What’s the story behind the song?”
Clark smiled and looked at her for an instant, then looked at the road.
“In Chito’s story, Gab wrote a song for his wife. At first, they wouldn’t be included in the album because it seemed too soft. But when Gab played the sound and recorded it, their bandmates were amazed and they added it to their album without knowing what the title was. Gab said to them, Your song is the title of the song.” said Clark.
“Wow, Gab’s sweet!” Gaby said, smiling.
“Like you..” Clark whispered.
“Gab’s wife is so lucky, isn’t she? Her husband did a very nice song. It’s as though you think true love exists.” said Gaby.
“True love truly exists, it simply depends on how they interpret it. I may not believe in eternity, but I believe in true love!” said Clark.
“Are you still a believer in true love? Didn’t your true love leave you?” Gaby asked.
Clark smiles lightly. “Nobody wants us to get separated. Perhaps we’re not meant to be together.”
“Well, as the saying goes: “Do not rush anything, at the perfect time of God, it will happen,” said Gaby.
“I wasn’t looking for someone to replace her. I have been torn apart for five years. You told me I was rude. It’s the way I’ve been for five years. But I never cheated on a woman, and I never made a woman cry for five years.” said Clark.
“You do love your girlfriend,” said Gaby.
“Ex-girlfriend, Gab!” Clark correction.
Gaby laughed as Clark corrected her. “Okay, your ex-girlfriend, you haven’t moved on for five years! Wow!” said Gaby. “You haven’t moved on yet?”
Clark glanced at Gaby. “I’ve already moved on,” he said one time, looking at the road.
“I think it’s good for you. It’s fun to live to keep from being stuck in the past,” said Gaby.
“Yeah! I didn’t think I could ever move forward until I met this girl.” Clark glanced at Gaby again. “I don’t know what she’s got, but she could have helped me get up and rebuild myself without even realizing it.”
Clark looked back on the highway. “Wow, she’s awesome!” said Gaby.
Clark took a second look at Gaby. “Yeah, she is!”
Clark looked back on the highway. “I have read that when someone changes you or helps you without knowing it, it means that someone is your soul mate. Because they help you aimlessly and you accepted their help without you noticing it. It’s a connection between you and that someone.” said Gaby.
Clark took one more look at Gaby. “You mean the girl I’m talking about, she’s my soul mate?”
“Yes, for sure, there is an invisible connection between you two that only your heart will know,” said Gaby.
Clark looked back at the road and smiled. “And you're smiling without reason. Are you thinking of her?” Gaby’s teasing him.
Clark laughed. “I thought, what if I courted her? Do you think I have hope? ”
Gaby gave it a second thought. “Well, if you show her how you feel, and she can feel your sincerity, yes, you have hope.”
Clark laughed a little more. “Okay, she’s going to be wooed. Do I have to ask permission or do I just woo her? ”
“I don’t know. For me, asking permission is like asking for assurances. But I’m not that girl so it’s up to you.” said Gaby.
Clark laughed again. ‘Hey, Gaby, why are you so naïve? Isn’t it obvious you’re the woman I’m talking about?’ Clark thought.
Clark saw Gaby touching her stomach. “Are you starving?” said Clark.
“Yeah! Screaming is exhausting!” Gaby chuckled.
“All right, let’s dine together later,” said Clark.
Gab never said a word. After a few more minutes, Clark glanced at Gaby and noticed that she was asleep.
“Geez, she’s tired!” said Clark with a smile.
She clasped the cd while bending her head over the passenger backseat. The seat was slightly tilted so that the girl could lie down properly.
