Chapter 77 Brewing Trouble

♫ Drew ♫
I felt ecstatic when my father told me that I was already given a go signal to go home. It's been 2 weeks since I was confined while Myco went straight to the States with Bianca as soon as he was released.
What’s sad is that Leslie didn’t visit me again after the last one. According to Kevz, she’s busy catching up with all the lessons she missed and had to take special exams as well.
I understand that though. For sure the same will happen to me once I go back to school. Still, I feel sad.
I was released from the hospital on a Friday and I plan to attend school on Monday. We only have two months left and we’re graduating next year.
It’s exciting but of course, the excitement has to end. “Hi babe!” and it’s Minnie again.
She went straight to my room and plopped on my bed. “Why are you here?” I asked, making it obvious that her presence irritates me.
“I want to take care of you!” she chirped happily.
“You didn’t go to school?”
“Nope! I went straight there because I want to personally take care of you today and every day,” then she snaked her arms around my waist.
She looked up to kiss me on the cheek but I avoided it by pushing myself off the bed. I thought she noticed it but I was wrong.
I didn’t know she followed me and I was even surprised when I felt her arm on mine so I harshly pulled away from her. “Can you please just stop? Aren’t you getting tired of doing desperate stuff like these?” I growled.
She stopped yes, but tears started welling in her eyes, and my forehead automatically creased. ‘What is it this time?’
“Why are you always pushing me away Drew?" she asked as tears started to flow on her cheeks.
“What do you mean pushing you away? You're not supposed to be here in the first place. You’re not my girlfriend anymore, we’re not in a relationship. But you’re acting as if you own me! You're throwing yourself at me and I hate it!”
She slowly sat down on the edge of the bed, her head bowed down. She was sobbing while fiddling with her fingers and it made me feel uneasy.
“Is it because of Lemon?” she asked in a low voice. I scratched my head out of frustration and irritation as I thought of this too. I know she’ll think that I’m avoiding her because of someone else, but that’s not true.
“Minnie, you know we're over even before I met Leslie,” I refuted. “We won't work out, never. So please stop bothering me!” I almost begged.
She looked up and smiled lazily. I thought that finally, she came to her senses, then again, I was wrong.
“Ok, I'll stop for now. I'll see you tomorrow then!” she quickly pecked my cheek, snatched her back from my bed, and head out of my room.
The next day, it was the same scene. Even if we’re in front of my parents, she can’t stop herself from hugging me.
At one point it seemed like my parents felt ashamed so they left us in the living room. When she tried hugging me again, blood shoot up to my head right away.
“Minnie, please? Can you just stop? You’re starting to disgust me you know?” I hissed.
I saw the pain that crossed her eyes but she was still smiling. It sort of crept me out but anger took over me.
“Sorry, I really just want to be with you,” she whispered and again, she started crying.
“I told you, I don't wanna be with you. There are other people I want to be with and you’re not one of them. So please! You’re suffocating me!”
“Alright, I’m sorry,” then he stormed out of the house. When I heard her car leave, I went up to my room, took a shower, and dressed up to go to the studio.
Kevz was there when I arrived. He said there’s no one with him at home so he decided to come over, but there’s no one at the studio either.
“It’s really a good thing that you came. I’m almost ready to count ants out of boredom!”
“I got bored at home too plus I want to avoid Minnie. She won’t stop bothering me again!”
“What’s her trip? I thought you guys broke up already?” and I nodded at him. “Then why is she still stuck on you?”
“I don’t know to be honest. We had a relationship when I was still in the States, years already passed. We never talked to each other when I came back and besides, we’re together for only four months,” I explained.
“But how long have you known her?”
“For quite some time already. We were classmates back in grade school and we’re close. Then I courter her but I realized that it’s boring to be in a relationship. After four months, I broke up with her and she’s fine with it. I don’t know what’s gotten into her that she’s acting like this now.”
Kevz shook his head and stood up. When he came back, he got two beer cans in hand. It’s just the two of us and we can only down a couple of cans but because of the number of stories we have, the time passed us by slowly.
I arrived at the studio past nine in the morning and it’s only two in the afternoon now. Then again, it already feels like I’ve been here the whole day.
As we continue to exchange stories, my phone beeped. It was a call from my nanny so I put it on speaker.
“Drew, where are you son?” her voice was in a panic.
“I’m at the studio, why?”
“Can you please come home now? Your parents are panicking. They don’t know how to tell you what happened so I called you instead.”
“Tell me what? What happened?” I glanced at Kevz who was eager to listen in. A certified gossipmonger!
“It’s about Minnie, Drew…”
“What about her?”
“She was rushed to the hospital. S-She tried to kill herself.”
I literally felt cold after hearing what my nanny said. I ended the call without saying anything and made a run for the door.
“Dude, take care!” Kevz yelled before I made it out of the gate. I even bumped into someone but I didn’t bother looking back.
Quickly hailing a cab, I went straight home to know what happened. “Dad?”
“Son, good thing you’re here now. Let’s go to the hospital!”
“How is she?” I asked her mom when we got into her room.
She gestured at the girl who was lying on the hospital bed, sleeping. “The doctor said she’s going thru depression. She recently found out that her father and I are going thru a divorce, which might have affected her.”
I walked closer to her bed and the first thing I noticed is the bandage on her wrist. ‘She's strong if I remembered correctly, what happened?’
“She was telling me about you last night. She said you’re mad at her.”
“I’m really sorry Ma’am. She’s been so much of a bother lately. She won't stop kissing and hugging me. She’ll do that even in front of my friends. I feel suffocated. I explained to her that I like someone else and I don’t want that girl to see what she’s doing to me because I don’t want her to misunderstand, but Minnie just won’t stop. I really lost my patience with her,” I told her mother truthfully.
“I’m really sorry Drew. I think she got used to you always being there for her. She became dependent because she knows you’re the only person she can go to when something is going on with her.”
I heaved a sigh as I can’t refute the truth. Back in the States, she was always being bullied and I play as his savior.
I always go with her during breaks until we grew closer to each other. We were like that until I left.
After a while, I felt someone holding my hand, it was her. It was Minnie. She was looking at me with tears in her eyes. “Drew, please don't leave me…”
