Maxineirah cleared her throat to catch her brother’s attention but Maxwell was still in a daze while staring at his food.
“Fufufu. Seems like you are missing our brothers that much, eh?” said Maxineirah.
Maxwell flinched and looked at Maxineirah with his widened eyes.
“O-of course not! Why would I miss them?!” he turned his head away from Maxineirah with his flushed face.
‘Oh my. I did not expect him to really miss them.’
“You. Do you not miss them?” Maxwell asked with innocent eyes, glancing a little to his sister. Maxineirah thought for a moment before answering.
“Hmm. Not yet? Just a little since they just left this morning but I will probably miss them later on.” Maxineirah replied with a smile.
Maxwell put his hand on Maxineirah’s head and patted her gently. “Do not worry Sis, I will be your big brother from now on.” Maxwell suddenly shifted his mood so fast and now is smug about being the only one beside her.
“What are you talking about Maxwell? Are you not already my older brother?” Maxineirah blurted out that made Maxwell halt and smiled awkwardly.
‘How smart this kid is.’ Maxwell thought.
Maximus went back to his office to continue his work while Maxwell and Maxineirah decided to play stack up while the Knights were having their practice.
Maxwell was about to lose but a Knight who was sticking his nose near them looked around him before scurrying over to Maxwell’s side and helped him to play.
Sir Albinio, the Knight’s Captain took his leave to mend on some matter so the Knight was able to slack off. After seeing the Knight playing with their Young Master and Young Lady, the entire platoon looked at each other and grinned before coming over to their side.
They assembled themselves around Maxineirah and Maxwell and slacked off by playing with them.
They were all noisy and their voices echoed on the training ground.
Sir Albinio together with Sir Jetarom arrived at the training grounds and found the Knights under the tree, having fun as if they had a lot of time to waste.
That sight was what greeted the Captains.
“NOTORIOUS LION KNIGHTS! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING?!” Sir Albinio shouted on the top of his lungs, angry because of the Knights under his wing.
Jetarom laughed at his old friend’s Knights when they hurried back to the center of the training grounds, trembling in fear.
Maxwell and Maxine also chuckled at them, wishing them good luck as the Knights received their punishment from Sir Albinio for slacking off.
Drenschville locked his room’s door before he piled up his hard pillows in the bed before covering it with a blanket. He waved his hand on the top of those and casted a hallucination that it would look like him if someone were to remove the blanket.
He went out of his balcony and closed it from the outside before jumping down to the ground. He used his divine freedom to land down lightly.
Since he went back in time, he had been training with his power.
At first, it was weak and hard but it was just because his body lacked training so he concentrated at his innermost shell and unlocked a fourth of his ability he obtained from the past.
This fourth power could already help him at great things like this since he was sure that he would not have to face anything so trivial this early.
He was dressed in casual attire since he would be leaving for the Ducal House of Zachrono as a playmate of the siblings.
Drenschville Gordon Kataline Pantelleria Ystradgynlais. The youngest child of Duke Ystradgynlais, illegitimate son born from a maid mother. 8 years of age and currently a servant of the church.
From the money he managed to steal from the people who go in and out of his room, he called for a carriage to ride on.
“What do you want, boy? I am not treating passengers for free.” The driver said scornfully after he saw the child but Drenschville let the coachman’s words pass and grabbed five silvers from his pocket that made the driver’s eyes twinkled.
It should only be a silver but the child brought out 5 instead.
“Drive me to Zachrono Estate.” Said Drenschville but the face of the driver changed again into sour.
“You sure in that Estate? Even if you have money, I would never risk my life.” The driver almost disagreed if it was not for the boy who reassured him.
Everyone knows that Zachronos have always been territorial. They say that if they just saw you lurking around there, guards would arrest and detain you in their underground prison, would be tortured to death and feed to their hungry jailed beasts.
Such stories exist. Drenschville did not know where it came from but it was the truth albeit, who managed to escape Zachrono’s grasp?
‘Perhaps a noble? But why would he ride in public if he is one?’ The driver thought so carelessly and glanced over his shoulder, at the boy who darted his eyes outside the carriage.
Drenschville noticed the curious stares of the driver from the front so he simply flicked his fingers and the window between them shut down that made the driver jolt in shock and focused on driving the horses instead.
Drenschville paid attention to the scenery again while the things running inside his mind were all about Maxineirah, Maxineirah and Maxineirah again.
It took several hours just to reach the town that the Zachronos manage. When they reached the Estate’s boundary, the guards on the big ironed gates blocked the moving carriage and started to question the driver.
“Who is your passenger?” one of the guards asked the man with a suspicious tone. The carriage looked so common to be a carriage of a vassal or someone who was high ranking.
“I-It is a boy. A noble I think. I-I am just a regular carriage driver on the street.” The man quivered in dread just by looking at the big man in front of him.
‘How troublesome.’ Drenschville grunted inside his mind before opening the window and peeking his head out of the carriage. The guard quickly noticed him and approached the boy.
Without saying anything, Drenschville took out the Young Duchess’ letter of invitation and gave it to the guard. After seeing the seal, the guard’s brows furrowed, thinking where he saw the familiar seal.
“Wait here.” The guard declared before going to one of his comrades who was closest to him but the latter also did not know the seal but gave the feeling of familiarity.
It took them several minutes inspecting the letter that the guards even gathered around until they decided to show it to their Head. The guard who received the letter got a surprised hit in the head from their Head guard.
“These naive youngsters!” the Captain said and personally went to Drenschville while the guard who was wronged tailed him.
The Head guard heard from the main House that there would be young guests who would come today. He even told his underlings about it so he felt lacking because of his foolish men who did not even know the seals that their Masters could use.
“It is indeed a good day, Young Master of Ystradgynlais. Pardon my subordinates for our shortcomings. You can enter the Estate, the Young Miss is waiting for your arrival.” The Captain showed a welcoming and kind smile – with his big built body- as he bowed his head in front of the noble child.
“Hmm.” Drenschville only replied as the Captain of the guards gave the letter back to the Young Master’s possession.
“May Frite bless you.” The Captain and his subordinates said before they opened the gates for him and the carriage proceeded to enter the boundary.
The man driving the wagon was astounded by the sight of the Grand Estate that everyone was praising.
It was his first time seeing it from afar right now since he could not get nearer in fear, he could tell that it was really big, enough to have this size from where they currently were
If it was not for the boy he has inside, he would never have the chance to see the Zachrono Mansion in this life.
On the other hand, Drenschville who was inside the moving carriage was not in awe at all for he had already seen even the interior of the house from the past. He went there frequently as Maxillary’s friend and even stayed in the house for days as an esteemed guest.
In the past, he was always struck with awe whenever he visited the Estate but after going back in the past, he realized that there was nothing to admire in that place for it only became a living hell for Maxineirah.
Drenschville first met Maxineirah at his fourth brother’s birthday banquet. It was not an official encounter because he only saw her from the corners of the hall with her cold facade, all guards up and wary of the surroundings before his brothers made a child’s play of him in front everyone present.
He was embarrassed to be seen in that state and more embarrassed to be seen by Maxineirah who he had a crush on.
For a long time, he never liked the fact that Maxineirah was suffering because of her family’s ignorance. She looked more helpless and miserable for being an abandoned child than him who had been dealing with physical abuse until he entered the church at his current age in the past.
Instead of being a regular servant, Drenschville turned down the church for now because he was planning to be a Cardinal at 10 straightway without hardships to go through anymore.
Instead, he would develop his divine powers more than he could wield in the past.
He needs to be stronger than he was. He planned not to have a lingering affection towards Maxillary in this life because he had enough of him.
He has a promise to fulfill to his deceased friend from the past, Maxillary himself and that was to protect Maxineirah in this life.
The carriage suddenly stopped without any warning that almost made Drenschville throw himself on the floor.
With gritted teeth, he took his head out from the window to look at what happened.
There was also a carriage in front of them and from the looks of it, their carriages almost bumped with each other.
Drenschville immediately noticed the insignia of the other carriage.
‘What is a carriage from Gabriela House doing here?’ he asked himself.
The two drivers were now arguing who was at fault for the sudden collision. Looking at the situation, Gabriela’s carriage turned left where they were and it was Gabriela's driver who was at fault here.
The child scoffed in irritation before mounting down the carriage and facing the two drivers.
“That is enough.” Drenschville went in between them to stop the argument.
“And who is this kid?” the driver of the other carriage asked with a brow raised.
“Fifth son of Ystradgynlais Viscounty.” Drenschville responded plainly, he did not say it to brag about his family’s status but in the coachman’s ears, he was being arrogant.
The man grinned and insulted, “Oh. That useless fifth son?” the man laughed.
While the man in the other carriage was laughing, Drenschville’s coachman was worried.
Drenschville signaled the coachman of his to go back to his seat that the man gladly abided by.
“You are making me laugh kiddo. And what could be a loveless child like you doing in a place like this?” the man snickered.
“You better go home boy, you must be lost, huh?” he added. Lost? In Zachrono territory? He would not be lost here because anyone would be found dead if someone tried to trespass.
Just what the child thought, the man he was facing is one of the too many idiots of the Empire. Drenschville did not fight the useless bickering of the man who only knew how to piss off children.
