Chapter 81 A ( 31.3 )

Aleja deadly glared at him, enraged. "I already disclosed that. You're here alive; aren't you arguing with me? If she tries to kill you, then she won't save you, and you won't be lucky enough to stand in front of me. No one will touch her, not even you. I'll be the one to call it quits." He affirmed.
Kendrick shook his head in disbelief. "You will regret protecting her," he said in a remarkable voice before moving his feet out of the room despite his difficulty walking.
Samara walked closer to him. "Don't mind him. You know him. He says what's on his mind. His words can be sharp, but he is very loyal to you. I'll just follow him," she said and followed Kendrick.
Only two were left alone. Aleja took a deep breath, sat down in his swivel chair, and massaged his forehead due to stress.
On the other side, she could not open her mouth because she was afraid of what he would say to her. So she kept her mouth shut.
On the contrary, Celestina was absent-minded as she stood, viewing the scenery outside her office. The floor of her office was on the 4th floor.
Her hands were crossed, thinking about what had happened earlier, when Aleja suddenly appeared. Her ex-boyfriend unexpectedly hugged someone else in front of her. She felt really weird because Aleja is not the type of person who forgets quickly, especially since he is her first love.
She's aware she hurt him, but even though he won't forget her that easily, even the taste of his food. No matter how much she tried to force Aleja to eat meat, he always rejected her. Now she wondered what that young girl had done to him to change his lifestyle and feelings so quickly.
She immediately turned her back to look at Leon, her best friend, who everyone thought was her boyfriend when, in fact, their relationship was fake just for show.
"Leon, how's the patient?" she anxiously asked him.
Leon smiled at her to put her at ease. "He's fine. They injected him with medicine to calm him down. Now he's resting, and they increased their security in case he does something stupid again," he explained.
She nodded and sighed. "That's great then," she said. Her thoughts were still on what had happened in the ER. She envied the girl who could stand up for him while she couldn't do anything but keep everything to herself.
She looked so stressed and bothered that Leon could see something bothering her. He gently placed both his hands on her shoulder and asked, "What's wrong? The patient is already safe, so why are you still troubled? Does this refer to what happened earlier?" he asked in a soft voice.
She raised her head and met his eyes. "I plan to tell him everything. The truth about my betrayal is that I never betrayed him. Instead, I have protected him until now," she decided.
Leon's brows furrowed. "Now?" he asked.
Celestina shook her head. "Tomorrow, I will tell him the truth. I can't hide it from him anymore, especially after what he did earlier."
"Why? Because you are jealous that he hugged someone else in front of you?"
"Yes. Because I have the right! And another thing, Aleja shouldn't be close to that girl. That will only cause chaos for him!" She shouted, pointing to the door as she stressed out.
"Alright, alright. I know what you feel, but are you really sure you will tell him everything? What if he doesn't believe in you? For him, you betrayed him. Do you think he will trust you again?" he questioned.
As she raised her chin and stared at him, she harshly removed his hands from her shoulders. "Of course yes. Because the girl he was with was the mastermind of what happened fifteen years ago. That's why I had to leave him and betray him because that girl was his father's killer." She gritted her teeth and clenched her fists.
Leon's eyes widened at her revelation.
"What?" He was almost speechless. In a moment, he cleared his mind and wetted his lips before turning his gaze back to her. "Wait—I don't get you," he said. "Aren't his stepmother and stepbrother responsible for his father's death? How did that girl happen to be the killer? Wait, I'm confused. What is the truth, really?" He wondered, puzzled.
"Because she told me the truth, the truth about Tito Alejandro's death. She confessed to me smiling. She killed him in a way that no one will find out how he died!" she whimpered. "I was so scared that day of what kind of human being that kid is, and she told me if I want to protect Aleja, I should betray him and ask him to admit his fault! You don't know how monstrous that girl is! She's dangerous, Leon!" She was terrified. "I won't let her ruin Aleja's life not again!" She exclaimed fanatically.
"If what you said is true, then we must tell him this without her knowing it. She might harm you if she knows you will tell him the truth," he suggested.
She immediately nodded her head, agreeing. "Alright, you had to tell me what exactly happened fifteen years ago before we planned what to do with her." He guided her to the couch to sit as Celestina began to tell the story of what happened fifteen years ago.
FIFTEEN YEARS AGO: BEFORE ALEJA WAS PRISONED AND TRIALED
Celestina and her friends and colleagues are having so much fun that they even danced together with her trusted best friend, Leon Sebastian. She just talked to her longtime boyfriend, Aleja, who rushed home to meet his dad despite it being his birthday. As a result, they are at the side of the pool, exhausted from partying all day long.
Leon asked, "I heard you and Aleja planned to get married after graduation. Do you already have an answer?" Some of her colleagues had already left for home. They are about to, but a lot of their friends and colleagues are still having fun, and Celestina can't leave them alone. After all, Aleja is not here to take care of them.
Celestina smiled sweetly and giggled. She sipped her wine, sitting on the lounge chair beside the pool in a black midi dress. "You know I've dreamed of marrying him, and if he doesn't propose to me, I'll do it. You know how much I love your best friend, right? He was everything to me. I won't give up on him, Leon," she said in a heartfelt voice.
Leon looked at her passionately and smiled genuinely. "Then, I'm happy for both of you. I wish you both happiness," he said soothingly.
"Thank you, Leon. You? Haven't you found your perfect match yet?" she chuckled.
He snorted. "No. I don't plan to date anyone. I just want to be a successful psychiatrist. That's all I want," he replied.
"How about the woman you're talking about? You said you loved someone. Have you confessed your feelings to her?"
Shaking his head, he replied, "I decided to keep it to myself. She's already content, and I can't ruin her happiness or the person she was in a relationship with. I'm happy if they are happy," he sincerely said.
Before Celestina could speak, her phone rang. She immediately looked at the caller and crinkled her forehead when she saw the unknown caller. When Leon saw her confused, he asked, "What's wrong with who's calling you?".
"I don't know. I never gave my number to anyone unless they were close friends or relatives. I wonder who this caller is." She shrugged.
Leon handed his hand to her. "Let me answer it for you." Celestina didn't hesitate and handed her iPhone X to him as he answered the call.
"Hello?" He asked, and soon his brows furrowed. "What? Aleja's little sister? Are you kidding me, kiddo? Aleja doesn't have a little sister, so stop pranking me. What? His father adopted you? What the fuck are you talking about?!" he exclaimed, cursing the other line.
"Why? What's wrong? Who is it?" Celestina crinkled her forehead. Leon glanced at her and said, "Aleja's little sister. She's telling me Aleja's father is dead." He told her in an unimaginable tone.
"What!?" Celestina quickly stood up to the sudden news. "That's impossible! What rubbish was she talking about? Let me speak to her!" She grabbed the phone and spoke directly to the caller.
"Hello? Who are you? Where did you get this number? Hey, kid. It's not appropriate to talk about the death of someone," she warned.
[Do you think I'm insane and talking rubbish just because I'm bored? My brother is under investigation at Police Station District 3. I'm also here outside where he was locked in. I'll wait for you here.] The phone ended without her saying a word. The young girl spoke in an adult manner and has the authority and power to command someone.
While looking at her phone, she turned to Leon, her friend. "I need to go to the police station," she hurriedly said, grabbing her things in the car key and walking fast outside, but to her surprise, everyone at the party was staring at their phones, shock written all over their faces, and others started mumbling and talking about the article they read online.
It didn't matter to her and she rushed to her car and drove to the police station where the kid told her where her boyfriend was located. While driving, her phone rang, and this time it was her mother who was calling.
She didn't answer and declined the call. However, the next caller was her dad, probably about Aleja asking her to break up with her since her family only cares about their names and reputations.
Also, they don't have anything good to say, so it's better to ignore them and speed up the accelerator.
