The exact time Jax told me that Mira confessed, my boss sent me a message saying that I need to write about the issue.
“Favoritism in this office? Yeah, right.” Relm is talking again. Maybe try to write better and boss will give you tons of issue to write about.
Alex visited me in my office a while ago, comforting me by saying all bad things about Relm. He’s a great guy. I actually think we’re best friends since he and Perry are the only ones I talk to in the office, except my boss and her secretary of course.
Perry’s been following Denise and he said that she never left her unit since they buried Ocean. She’s not returning my texts but I still send her messages to let her know that if she needs someone, I’m always here.
My boss dismissed me early since I’ve been writing since 8 am in the morning. There’s a lot of drama going on— Ocean’s death, Investigating team ruled Ocean’s death as murder, Mira’s confession and Celebrities reaction on his death and on Mira’s confession. I wrote all about it. No wonder why Relm thinks our boss is giving me special treatment.
I’m so exhausted. Every thing’s been draining me lately. It sucks that Denise hasn’t been returning my calls and texts. She exhaust me.
Waiting for her exhaust me.
I wanna be there for her, not here when I can’t hold her or take advantage of her sadness so that I can hold her to her sleep.
Also, Kathy’s making me crazy too. Even in her death, she still manages to give me that feeling when your tummy aches because of too much worry.
FLASHBACK
“Kathy!” I shouted at her. Luckily, she heard me before turning left. “You off to work?” She nodded. “Okay then ride with me.” She accepted my offer.
“I don’t have a car yet. Student debts making me crazy.” She said. “How much student debt you still paying?” I noticed that she brought a lunch box with her. I think I should’ve told her that we have free breakfast and lunch included at work. “I’m all paid.” I said trying not to sound arrogant or what.
“Oh wow. How?”
“My Dad’s money.” I answered shortly not trying to start a long personal conversation about how I paid for my Student’s debt.
My Dad didn’t die within a day. It was a long period of suffering for him and I had to watch. My Dad has a lot of money but he choose to live in a rural area because he said that it’s peaceful there. No competitions and there’s lesser people who will join you in your adventures just to have a taste of your money, A.K.A my mom. Maybe my Dad’s disappointed at me while he’s looking down and seeing me here although I doubt that. He never really told me what to do but he only wish about it.
When he gave me his money he said that I should pay for my Student debts first so that all of the money I’m going to earn in the future is all mine, and the bills of course except that he told me nothing about the bills.
I’m lucky that she didn’t ask me anything until we’re settled in our own booth.
“Hey, Alex.” Alex looks at me. “What are you eating?” He’s chewing very carefully because he is a load chewer and he knows that I hate that. He tried to say something but I can understand him so I just went to ask him something. “So how’s Kathy?” My booth is on the left while Kathy’s on the right, Alex in between. He swallowed whatever he’s eating. “Yeah, she’s fine. Got a lot to learn though but a fast learner.” Good because I don’t want to get in trouble if she’s not good for this job or if she is a trouble maker. “Thank God for you Alex.” I gave his cheeks a gentle touch.
He went closer to me and whispered me a question. “So she’s your girlfriend or something.” He asks me. I answered defensively. “What? Are you crazy!? I have a boyfriend!” Alex always knew that I am interested with girls too. He’s the only one who knows about it. “You know I’m not a snitch so relax.” He said. I’m so glad that Kathy needs help from Alex so I didn’t have to response on what he said.
Kathy’s really beautiful. If only she doesn’t have any issues I’ll totally fling with her. Work went smooth today since I only wrote about reviews. I can see that Kathy’s dedicated with her new work.
Maybe so dedicated to earn good money and run someplace else.
“Hey! Saturday half day tomorrow!” Alex came running toward us.
His bag shook heavily since there’s a laptop inside.
“Careful, Alex. Your bag handle looks like it’s about to snap.” Kathy said. Wow, they’re close now huh.
“Yeah, yeah whatever.” He put his hands on our shoulder. “Let’s drink. My treat but your apartment.” He said to me.
“Just buy a new bag instead of alcohol.” Kathy nods at what I said.
“Oh, come on. Please?” Alex pleaded and pleaded until we said yes.
I don’t have to worry about people coming over in surprise. My apartment’s always clean to the point that Jax calls me ‘clean freak’.
“You’re apartment’s always clean.” Kathy said while removing her shoes. She looks around and sits at the same sofa she sat on when she first came here. Alex gave me ‘that’ look.
“So, she already came over huh.”
“Yeah, she lives in the building too.” Alex is making me nervous with his looks and I don’t want to sound nervous in front of Kathy.
“No way! So you’re always here?” Come on Alex.
“I figured that she might be busy so I try so hard to not come here.” Kathy said.
Is she flirting with me?
I went to reheat some chicken I have in the refrigerator and fry fries. “I say go for it.” My heart almost jump out when I saw Alex now sitting at the counter with a glass of alcohol on his hand. “She flirted with you, my friend. She likes you.”
“Oh Alex, please. Don’t push me, okay? I have a boyfriend.”
“I’m not gonna tolerate cheating so I say—“ he jumps out and leans over the table next to me. “Break up with your boyfriend.”
Is he crazy? “You’re crazy, Alex.” He just smiled.
“I know you, Jess.” He walks away and went to chika with Kathy who’s drinking.
“There you go.” Kathy and Alex made a clear spot on the table where I can put the plates. Our night is wonderful, we talked about a lot of stuff especially how we hate the Girl who got her office over a favor. “She’s not even good at writing the easiest review article.” Alex commented.
“Really? Reviews the easiest.” She said in surprise.
It’s nice to see the three of us bonding like this and seeing Kathy laugh. It must be rough on her having someone obsessed with her.
“Oh hey, I have to go.” Alex went to kiss my forehead and did the same to Kathy.
“Really? Alex.” I said knowing that it’s his plan to leave me and Kathy alone.
“What? I really have to go.” He said teasingly. “You enjoy, okay? I’m not pushing you on anything. You choose. Good bye.” He went to kiss my forehead again and wave good bye to Kathy who’s just smiling while looking at us.
“You two must be really close.” I sat next to her.
“Oh yeah, since first day of work. He’s a talkative guy.” There’s silence over us for 2 mins. before I asked her if she’s finished so I can clean the table.
As I put the dishes in the sink I felt her presence in the kitchen. When I look back, I saw that she’s helping me clean. “Hey, leave it. It’s okay.” I said.
“No. I want to help.” I didn’t say anything because I’m too tired to argue about this kind of thing. After cleaning, I lay down on the sofa and close my eyes.
“Hey Jess.” She whispered on my ear. “I’m going.” I sit so that I can say good bye to her. “Thank you so much for today. I enjoyed it.” As the silence reigns over us once again, her eyes captured mine and mine can’t part its way. I don’t know for how long we stayed like this but it’s long enough that I can already feel her breath on my lips.
She kissed me.
We stayed like this for long and the only thing that separated us is when we hear someone calling my name.
