Chapter 43 DECISIONS
Sometimes in life, we face difficulties, challenges that threaten our lives, but the best thing is to overcome them. Living with resentment will not help, instead will make one sad and down.
Gloria finally decided to let go of her past after passing through those traumatic stages in her life. Her father's surgery was successful as father and daughter later bonded.
The family became whole again. However, Gloria decided to leave the country for the time being. To her, staying will only bring memories she wanted to bury.
Her parents agreed instantly. Not only do they sell their unnecessary belongings, house, and extra cars, they also planned on entering the entrepreneurship world, as well as having their own business. One that won't take their time and energy.
Gloria finally felt happy again. She was once again ready to be the best she could be. She had it quite well not to blame herself for what happened to her. Life is meant to be enjoyed and lived the right way. No matter what one faces, it is only for a short period.
Gloria was no doubt grateful for Rachael and her friends. They put her interest ahead of theirs. They are the best of friends. The ones that will stand by you both in difficult, favorable, and unfavorable seasons.
Tears filled her eyes the day she said her goodbyes to them. She wished that the next time they meet, they will be reunited happily and joyfully.
There is something about poetic justice that is just so poetic... Mr. Stanley danced to the tune of his music as he was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment, as well as a mental check-up due to his altered personality.
Even tho he was a respected fellow in GGHS, the students were all bewildered when the news reached the school about his imprisonment. No one knew who in question was used as an object of rape, as the security refused to reveal.
That way, Gloria's identity will remain a secret. It makes everyone startled that such a gentle, handsome man was a pedophile and pervert. It readjusted people's point of view, not to base people's character on the outside self or personality. The only one who knows all is God who searches deeply through one's heart.
One could begin to wonder what the next mystery will be. Zack has been quiet for a while now, and that makes Rachael slightly worried. Maya and her crew are not giving up on Joy either.
The tides of a teen's life are a mixture of happiness, sadness, joy, freedom, teen feelings, and unexpected circumstances that can make one wish to be a baby again. It is just that, as one faces challenges, one becomes stronger only if reacted to with a positive and thoughtful vibe.
.......
Andrew, Rachael, and Kevin laughed hardly at Joy's joke. They were in an empty class taking their lunch break. The cafeteria looks quite congested, especially since it was a Monday.
"Like seriously? You are a scaredy-cat who imagines a lot. Life is not like the tale of Cinderella and her prince living happily after, " Rachael commented.
She was surprised her friend thought was about marrying a Prince Charming. More like a Knight in Shining Armour.
"Hey, buzz off. Leave me and my imaginations. You should be more worried about Zack, he has been quiet lately, " Joy let out her tongue, before sticking some of the French fries in her mouth.
Rachael raised her brow, a frown creeping in as she tried to caution her friend who liked spilling the beans.
"Is anything the problem?" Kevin probed, turning to face Rachael whose face doesn't look that great.
"Oops, sorry I said that, " Joy bowed her head at what she was eating.
"Nothing. I don't feel like talking about it, " Rachael simply said.
It does not seem as if Joy is letting go of her easily as she raised her head.
"After Gloria's incident, Rachael felt Zack might make a move anytime soon, " Rachael facepalmed.
'I am going to be more conscious of my words to Joy next time, " Rachael thought.
"I don't think you should feel awkward about this. Zack's silence has a lot of meanings. It will be better to be careful especially at his blooming feelings for you, " Andrew finally spoke.
"Yeah, just be careful. I don't like judging but a player like Zack who finally fell for the opposite sex will try to get the lady through crook and hook, " Rachael simply nodded at Andrew and Kevin's words.
"It is okay. It is probably one of my gut feelings at work again. Just to clarify, I do not have any feelings for Zack again. And as for the necessary precautions, I will try to keep our distance to a clear minimum.
If he is at least reasonable, I think he should rather work on taming his feelings rather than forcing his feelings on me, " Rachael stated as they nodded except Joy.
"Oh please! Zack does not seem to be changing soon. Haven't you heard? He is currently dating Maya, that sly girl, and sometimes ends up sleeping with ladies who throw themselves at him. So gross, " Joy lamented as Andrew chuckled.
"Don't be too hard on him. He was once your Prince Charming, " Andrew commented as they all started laughing except Joy who was a little bit angry, as he slapped Andrew slightly, who laughed the more.
"Don't sweat it. It was all in the past. I never realized how much of a player he was. For now, I am closing my heart to feel. No more crushes, infatuation or attraction till I get to college, "
"Seriously? You are bound to have those feelings. They are normal as a teenager. And you know what? You will develop a crush on someone before the end of our high school, " Joy smirked, amazed by Andrew's speech.
For some reason, after realizing the real Zack, she has decided to keep her feelings at bay. At least, till she gets out of high school. Feelings can be a burden at times.
"Oh really? Is that a bet?"
"Ahem... Don't take this far. Feelings are unpredictable Joy. It is something that happens when you least expect it. Rather than being confident in not developing any teen feelings, you should try to look at other things, " Rachael put in, as Joy rolled her eyes.
"Yes ma'am, whatever, " Joy mumbled.
"Don't mind her. Her prince charming dream with Zack had broken her heart. She does not want to be heartbroken again, " The three burst into laughter at Andrew's words.
"Don't make me angry Mr. Andrew. I might lose my appetite, " Joy raised her hand at Andrew who chuckled.
"Yes ma, " he whispered.
"Hey, don't disturb Joy. It only makes me wonder who you are crushing on in this big school, " Andrew's face went pale at Rachael's words.
Beads of sweat made way to its face as he looked rather quiet.
"I am interested in knowing the person too. Kevin should know right?" Joy whipped her head in Kevin's direction.
"I don't know anything. I think Andrew does not want us to know because he does not want us to be mentioning the person's name. Right Andrew?" Andrew gave a small smile and nodded.
"Duh! I am not interested again. I am pretty sure the person is a nerd like you, " Joy joked.
Andrew felt a little bit relieved, oblivious to Rachael's stare who seemed to be getting a different reason as to why Andrew refused to reveal the person he was crushing. 'It is his personal life, right? Maybe I was thinking too much, ' Rachael thought, brushing off her thoughts.
Andrew on the other hand felt his heart pounding. It was true he had developed a crush on a girl during their sophomore year, but it only lasted for 2 weeks. After then, he never developed even the tiniest feeling for the opposite sex. Rather, he had developed a strong attraction for Caleb, during the times he had advised him.
It was a weird feeling he has been trying hard to get over, but the more he tried, the more the attraction got stronger. Not to talk of his pervert stepfather who has a dark obsession with him. His life was simply a mess one way or the other. Feelings he never bargained for came in, and seem rather irresistible.
"Erm, I will be leaving you guys. Principal Mullins requested I meet her a few minutes before the break ended. He wanted me to be a guide to a new student, " Kevin stood up to leave as they bid him goodbye.
The other three continued their discussion on other subjects.
Kevin made his way towards the Principal office only for his eyes to meet with that of Zack who was talking with his best friend, Brendon. Kevin simply sigh and walked away, hoping in his heart that Zack does not turn out to be an antagonist.
For some weird reasons, Kevin still believed in the fiction that the bad boy tends to get the female lead, a notion that kept stuck to his brain.
But one thing he never realized was that there was a bigger antagonist closer than he thought.
"Ouch, " Kevin bumped into someone, as her books fell on the ground.
She bent down immediately to pick, as Kevin also bent down. Their eyes met with each other, as Kevin looked startled, his heartbeat increased immediately.
"Race...ha..el?" his eyes wide open, mouth slightly open at the sight in front of him.Download Novelah App
