"Why are you so quiet?" Serena curiously asked, as she and Paul are walking home as usual after school.
Paul looked at Serena straight in the eye. Serena can't see any emotions on his face.
"I'm breaking up with you." he said, out of the blue.
Serena suddenly stops walking and wheeled around to face Paolo.
"What are you talking about?" she asked, while looking obviously surprised.
Paolo lets out a big sigh before he spoke again.
"What I was trying to say is, let's stop this pretend relationship." he clarifies.
Serena wasn't able to speak for a few seconds because she was obviously surprised by Paolo's sudden decision.
Why is he suddenly making a decision without consulting her about it? They should be making mutual decisions, not separate ones. 
She was able to regain her composure when Paolo spoke again.
"I know what you're thinking, Serena. But you don't have to worry, you can still protect your image and your reputation. You'll be the one who's going to break up with me infront of many people. I was thinking of a scenario wherein we'll be doing our break up scene at the cafeteria during lunchtime, where they are many students around. You're going to break up with me and you can slap me in the face. That's it. Pure and simple." he explains his plan.
"Paolo, this is all so sudden! We haven't been dating for a month, and then we're breaking up?" Serena cajoled.
"Do you still want to drag this longer? Let's just to it fast and simple. Let's just spread a rumor that I cheated on you, that's why you're breaking up with me." suggested Paolo.
Well, if this is what Paolo really wants, then so be it. 
Serena took a deep breath to calm her confused feelings.
"Okay, then. When will we do it?" she finally gives in. 
"Tomorrow at lunch." Paolo answered rightaway.
Serena just nodded in response. 
"It's settled then. I'll see you at school tomorrow." Paolo coldly responded.
Paolo was about to go to different direction but Serena suddenly stops him.
"Wait, where are you going? Aren't we suppose to go home together?" Serena curiously asked. 
"I'm sorry if I forgot to tell you. My mom and I decided to go to a tutoring class because zi need to have higher grades so I can pass the University entrance exam. I can't waste any more time." Paolo seriously informs her.
"Oh, that's surprising. Anyway, goodluck with your tutoring class. I'll just go home all by myself from now on." Serena said, as she tries her best not to show her emotions.
Paolo was about to open his mouth to say something but he stopped himself.
"Just be careful on the way home." that's all he said, then afterwards, he walked to different directions.
Serena's eyes followed Paolo until he was out of sight. This is the first in many years that she'll go home alone. The thought of it made her sad, frustrated and disappointed...

The next day at school.
Lunchtime. 
Paolo and Serena are inside the cafeteria, as they get ready to execute their plan.
"Listen to me carefully, okay? On my cue, you will suddenly slap me, and then you will say that we are breaking up. Just make sure to say it loud and clear so that everyone can hear it. Then afterwards, you'll walk away and leave me alone. Is that clear?" Paolo gave him last minute instructions.
"Yes, you don't have to tell me again and again." Serena curtly stated. 
Paolo took a deep breath, and he started counting one to three. He then gave Serena a cue to start.
"Do it!" he whispered to Serena. 
Serena then immediately raises her hand in the air and slapped Paolo with all his might. She saw his cheek getting so red because of her slap, and she feels a bit guilty about it.
"How dare you cheat on me! I hate you! Let's break up!" Serena shouted, and the next thing that she did was to run away from Paolo.
Paolo grabbed her arm to stop her from leaving.
"Serena, wait----!"
"Don't touch me!" Serena exclaimed.
Paolo was taken by surprise when she saw Serena's tears. He wasn't expecting that Serena is going to cry on their roleplay.
He lets go of Serena, and he watches her walk away from him.
At the corner of his eye, he saw some bystanders watching them while whispering at each other. He is 100% sure that the news of their break up will spread across the school like a wildfire.
They will be the talk of the town for a week, then afterwards, many people will forget about it...

A week have passed since Paolo and Serena's so-called "break up."
For Serena, everything is still fresh into her mind. She knew that Paolo was hurt because of her slap, and she's still feeling guilty about it. 
After that incident, she and Paolo avoided each other. Although they are still sitting next to each other, they don't talk anymore just like what they usually do. They go on their own separate ways during the break and lunch, and they don't go home together anymore...
Serena lets out a big sigh, while feeling depressed. She feels terribly depressed, and now she is all alone in her room, feeling miserable. 
She snaps out from her reverie when she heard someone knocking at the door.
"Serena? Your father is finally home and he's looking for you." she heard their butler calling her.
Serena's mood suddenly changed when she heard that his Daddy is finally home. Her father owns a coconut plantation, and they export their products abroad, so that is why her father is always on the move. She is mostly left alone, as her mother died when she was just a little child because of a traffic accident...
Her Daddy is the only family she has right now.
She quickly jumps out from her bed and fixed herself. Afterwards, she smilingly opens the door, and she saw their butler waiting for her outside.
