Best friend? Rash knows Jake?
I was observing them eventhough my heart is beating so loud because of what's happening. Rash is pointing a gun to Jake. I can't even move my feet as it's already trembling. I can't even stop them.
And what does he mean by 'long lost best friend'?
I am really confused on what's happening. My mind is really perplexed that I can't even digest every single word they are saying. I don't care if they know each other. All I want is for them to stop.
Jake didn't move a bit and just stared at Rash who's in front of him. He didn't even flinched when Rash pointed a gun on his head. He was looking at my brother as if there's something that only they know.
His jaws were clenched as he eyed his 'friend'. It's a bit rejuvenated to see them in this situation. If they're really friends, why does one of them points a gun to the other?
“You're really sure that I can't twang this gun.” I heard Rash said before he slowly pulled out his gun and put it on his pocket. I heaved a sigh in relief. “You know that I still value our frienship after your betrayal.”
“Are you following me?” At last, Jake spoke. His face was void of emotion as he stared back at Rash. His voice turned serious and his smirk already perished.
“Are you joking? ”Rash chuckled at his statement. “I live here.”
In that moment, Jake eyebrows creased into a thin line. He looks confused as he roamed his eyes at me and to William. He even looked at Kian, his secretary but he didn't get an answer.
“Now, you're acting, Jake?” Rash sarcastically spoke out. “You're acting as if you didn't know who's my mother. You even dated my sister.”
“Rash...” I called him, wanting him to stop. I don't want this to continue as I don't know where this could lead. Rash looks short-tempered already.
“Rielle is your sister‽ How?” Jake really looks confused. But I doubt that his reaction was really genuine. I feel like he's just pretending right now. He's quite different from the Jake I was with earlier.
Kian glanced at me with a dagger look which made me slightly gasped. He then whispered something on Jake which made the latter changed emotions. He stared at me before he smiled.
Now, Jake becomes more creepy. I don't know why I feel like he's dangerous. With that kind of smile, I felt something is up. And it's not good.
But my lips parted when he started clapping his hands in front of Rash. My brother is calmly looking at him with his arms folded on his chest. I walked slowly to grabbed his hand. I pulled him lightly to get his attention but he didn't give me a look.
“You really know me, Ferrer.” Jake said before he looked at him with a stern face. “You're really my best friend.”
So, they're really best friends.
“Ex-best friend.”
Jake chuckled at Rash's rebuttal, but it send shivers on me. It felt like he was possessed as he laughed like that.
“Let just say, you're part of my plan. And also your sister.” He looked at me. “I already told you about her before, right? But you didn't listen to me.” He shrugged. “And about my threats... I won't do that to her.”
“Liar.” William scoffed at the corner. Eversince, my brother is not in good terms with Jake. He's always like that to him. But it worsen when Jake and I broke up. He thought that I was broken hearted because of Jake. He saw me cried that time and he was very mad at him.
“And also you, Rivera.” Jake chuckle at him. “I don't have interest on you. Don't worry about Ziena.”
Wait... how did he know about Ziena Santiago?
“You're the only capable one who can hurt people and they become your target. Aside from the fact that you're greedy, you're also selfish. Don't make us a fool here.” Rash spat on him. “You're responsible for those orders and your minions will follow what you want. You're The Hawk's leader afterall.”
I gasped as my grip loosened on Rash's hand but he instantly hold it. It wasn't tight enough to support me. I felt my knees crumpled. Rash even pulled me beside him and hold my waist.
I don't know why but instantly, a hot liquid poured down my cheeks as I looked at Jake with betrayed eyes. I thought... He's so good to be true. He's a gentleman to me. He never treated me ill before.
“Smart ass since before, huh?” Jake mocked at Rash. “Partly true. You're wasting your time protecting them, Ferrer.” Jake added. “I have targets, but Rielle is not one of them.”
“You don't seem convincing to me,” Rash scoffed. “That alibi isn't enough to covered up those sh*ts your members made. You only proved to me that you've become a reckless liar.” He said that with full voice even though he's holding me. He keeps my face only on his shoulders. I feel like he knows that I am crying right now. But I still looked at Jake to see his reaction.
“You may seem to disagree with my statement, but I am telling the truth.” Jake continue but now his eyes were on me. For a second, his eyes showed that he apologize for something. It was sincere but I don't know why I can't even accept it. “I loved her.”
“Even how many times you'll tell me this, I will never give that satisfaction that you want.” Rash hissed at his last sentence. “Don't use that 'love' card to me because I know you're just b*llsh*tting us.”
“I already told you what I want, Rash Ferrer. Yet you can't give it to me.” Jake sighed before he looked at me. “I'm sorry, Rielle.”
I didn't uttered a word to respond him. I don't know what to exactly feel as for the moment. All I want is the truth. If he's behind this gang who wants to kill me. I want him to personality confirm it to me.
“You're an amazing girl I've ever met, and I never regret loving you. It just not the right time for us. But if we have, I will do anything to take you back.”
“No...” That's what I only mumbled. “Y-you already have a family, Jake. Don't do this to them. Just... just leave us alone.”
He was shocked for some seconds before a pained expression showed on his face. He parted his lips and was about to say something but he didn't continued, even a single word. He just heaved a sigh and slowly nodded at me.
“O-okay...” His voice broke with that one word. “I'm sorry...” That's what he told me before he diverted his eyes at the woman who invited him here. My mother who's just on the doorway, calmly watching at us. “I'll go ahead, Auntie Riella. Sorry for the inconvenience.” He said before he turned his back on us. Seconds after, his car drove away from our house.
I felt my brother's embrace tightens as he keeps me on his arms. I cried on his chest with mixed emotions that I feel right now. I was hurt again...Betrayed, confused, surprised and scared. I don't know what's exactly to feel.
“He still has feelings for you,” Rash mumbled on my ear.
“N-no... We're just friends...” I answered back. “He knows who I truly love.”
“He still can harm you. Now that you're within his reach.” I heard him sighed. He then guided me inside the house and left me with our mom in the living room. She was gently stroking my hair to calm me down. William was just silently looking at me who's sitting on the other side.
“Why did you invite him, mom?” Rash voice echoed the whole room as he entered the living room with a pitcher on his hand. He gave me a glass of water and I simply drink it.
“I need to confirm something, Rash.” Mom calmly told him.
“What is it?”
“If he has pure intentions towards Rielle. He's sincere on his confession but he became obsessed on her. It just shows that he wanted her even if he's already married.”
I was preoccupied even after they finished discussing everything. I don't know what to react on Jake's confession. He never told me his feelings before. I just know that we both have closure when we broke up.
And to think that he's behind all The Hawk's minions looking for me, I felt betrayed knowing that. He becomes my human diary but I felt like it's a wrong move. He might everything he knows to me. I just can't trust his words now. I am his target.
“Rielle.”
I was startled when Rash called me. He heaved a sigh when seeing my expression. I just looked at him until he glanced at the main door which my eyes followed.
But I can't describe how shocked I was when I saw him again after I left the safe house. He's just wearing a blue long sleeves and long pants with a backpack on him but he looks good with his disheveled hair. His green eyes were directly looking at me with a small smile plastered on his lips.
“Sean Elijah...” I mumbled. I couldn't smile at him. I felt like everything I did to not think of him, vanished. I miss him so much after days of not seeing him. I tried not to miss him, but I know I will still come back into his arms. I am still into him.
