I just sipped on my drink and didn't give much attention on what he said. I don't know why they assigning someone to me. As if they are really skilled in doing this. Since before, I was really curious on why my brother assigned Elijah to be my bodyguard. Aside that they are friends and that Elijah is 'bored', there's no other reasons for my questions. Are they agents or something? “Why do you know something about these stuff?” I just asked. I heard Denver and Rash chuckled with my question. “You just really ignored me, lady.” Denver uttered. “And you just asked that now?” “So?” I arched him a brow. He just shook his head. “Nice! So your brother didn't tell you about him nor us.” Clifford said. He chuckled while glancing at my brother. “You're secretive towards your sister, dude!” “Shut up, Rodriguez!” My brother stopped him. He looked at me and that confirms what Clifford is saying. He's hiding some secrets on his pockets. I understand that because even me has secrets. I am just really curious that even my brother is involved in this. But what is it? “William?” I asked. He sighed before he tucked some strands on my hair. He does that when he will tell me something confidential. “Didn't it come to your mind why we didn't tell this to the police? Nor why I assigned Elijah abruptly as your bodyguard?” He asked. I was just listening to him and didn't answer. “It's because we're also a gang. We're gangsters.” I stilled in my sit. It didn't processed to me immediately and was just staring at my brother. My brother who's been very gentle and outrageous at the same time. Who has a soft side when he's with me but will get mad whenever someone will hurt me. I just looked at all of them and the smile on their faces were changed afterwards. They got those serious look as if they are also observing what will I react. “The police shouldn't know about this, because in the first place, it is our fight with the other gang, 'The Hawk'.” he added. “You're a member, brother?” I asked. He slowly nodded that made me shut my eyes. I can't believe this. I should think of something that will make my mind accept this. I should respond to them. They might think I got scared, because honestly, I am not. I was just dissapointed. “So you're telling me, this is collateral damage of your actions?” They didn't respond. But I will assume that I was right. Silence means yes. I tried to heaved a few deep sighs before looking at all of them. “You're the only woman who know us being part of the gang.” The guy name Daniel spoke. “Should I be thankful that I knew that? You're more than dangerous than those gangsters. You're just like them!” “Rielle! Watch what you're saying!” William stopped me. “Tsk, what a brave lady. I'm impressed!” Denver even chuckled while looking at me. I rolled my eyes on him. “You don't need to get involved in our mess, Ms. Rivera.” Rash said to me. “It wasn't your fault that you've heard their plan. They are after us—'The Falcon'. But since they knew that you heard them, they will find a way to shut you up. That's why you're being guarded by my co-gangsters.” “All of you here are gangsters?” I looked at Elijah and he just stared at me. He didn't respond. I shook my head at him because I am really dissapointed. He's also secretive, just like me. Wow! “Okay! Do what you want. Do everything to protect me. Just don't use me as your bait to lure your enemies.” I said. They just heaved a sigh. “Send her home.” Rash added. “Don't worry. The coast is clear.” I nodded. I stood up and they're just looking at me. “I'll go now.” “I'll go with you, Arabella Rielle.” Elijah also stood up but I shook my head. His forehead creased while looking at me. I looked at William. “I can go by my own.” “No! You'll go with someone, Rielle. Don't be a hard-headed again.” He uttered. I just scoffed and my eyes darted at Denver who's eyeing me confusedly. “I still have my other bodyguard with me.” I said to them. My brother look at where I am looking and he just shook his head and mumbled that I am really stubborn. Denver just chuckled and eventually showed me his keys. I felt someone hold my wrist tightly. I looked at him and he's stopping me with how he looks at me. It was demanding and intense. The green shades of his eye color turned darker and he really looks pissed. But I tried to be strong just for now and manage not to stumble myself. I looked straightly at him. I looked and showed how dissapointed I am to be with him right now. I don't know why I am feeling this sudden emotions. It felt like I want to get him out of my sight for now. It felt like what I am seeing right now is not the Elijah I was with before. He changed. “Let go, Elijah.” I said coldly. When he saw what I am showing him through my eyes, his grip loosened. I sudden flick of emotion showed on his green orbs but it was just in a split of a second. I don't want to identify it because, I, myself, is scared to figure it out. He let go of my hands. That made me looked at them all. “I will go now, gentlemen. Thank you for the drink.” I give them a last glance. I walked out of the room and saw that no one's already at the bar. Only the flickering lights were our guide on this dark club bar. I just felt Denver's presence beside me when he spoke up. I didn't looked at him and just focused on my way out. “There are no other people aside from us. We already secured the place.” He informed. That explains why there are even no bartenders and waiters here. “What happened to the crews?” I asked. “They're...at their home.” I just nodded and didn't bothered asking further about it. “You hurt that man, lady.” He uttered when we got in the parking lot. Compared to Elijah, he's more playful when he speaks. “That's harsh.” I shook my head and didn't mind what he said. “Don't talk. We're not close.” I said. He just chuckled lightly and guided me on his car. I just followed. My brother trust him so I will trust him myself too. When we got inside his car already, he spoke up again. “Why did you ask me to take you home?” He asked before he started maneuvering his car to my condo. I just told him my address and he just nodded. I sighed deeply. I have an answer but I can't told him that. He doesn't know me personally. I just kept silent until we got in front of the Madrigal's Tower. He looked to me. “Thank you.” I uttered. “Am I really your bodyguard?” he asked, as if he's not yet believing that. I just nodded, a bit smiling on how he reacted. “Just a substitute when Elijah's not around.” I said. “Besides, I won't allow someone to take me home unless I don't trust them.” I smiled a little. “Are you really trusting me that much?” He chuckled. “I just want to inform you where I live so that you won't bother asking other people.” I just made that as my excuse so he won't know my real reason. “I'll give you my number... in case.” I shrugged. He chuckled before handling me his phone. After few more talks, I bid goodbye to him and went inside my condo unit. I heaved a sigh when I lied on the bed. Thinking of what my brother just told made my head hurts. What a night!
