“That brat isn’t my beau, Jerson. You know you’re my Cara, right?” Vishnu asked with his unusual soft voice. He held Jerson’s hand. “I can explain!” he added. Jerson was too stunned to even utter a word. How did Vishnu know that they were in the office? How the hell did he ditch those influential families? Jerson frustratedly sighed. Vishnu really had the guts to do it, and this might cause an uproar that would make Vishnu suspicious. Jerson rubbed his temple as he could only imagine the aftermath of this unexpected turn of events. Vishnu came forward in front of Jerson and cupped Jerson’s face using his trembling hands. He huffed before looking directly at Jerson's eyes. He caressed his beloved's face and said, “Let me explain, hmm?” Jerson shoved Vishnu’s hand. “You don’t have to explain, Vishnu,” he mumbled. Vishnu shook his head. “I’ll explain, okay? Please don’t be angry.” Jerson bit his lip. “I am not angry,” he frustratedly said. He could see the suspicious looks from Van and Leon. “I know that kid was just jesting.” Leon's brows furrowed. “Who are you calling a kid?” “You, of course,” Jerson retorted. Vishnu’s face gleamed. “Really?” he asked like a dog wagging its tail to his master. Jerson just nodded. He looked at his watch and said, “Let’s go.” Vishnu, Leon, and Van followed Jerson’s lead. They were passing across a hallway that they weren’t familiar with. Vishnu who checked the blueprint knows that this passage wasn’t included in the blueprint of the building that was provided for them by Farah. Instead of asking how Jerson found out about this, Vishnu examined the situation as he felt extremely uncomfortable. He was having a hunch that something, at the very end of the path, awaits them. Vishnu signaled Leon to get ready while eyeing his Cara who was seriously walking down the aisle path. At the far end of the hallway, Jerson could see the hired bodyguard of the General waiting for them. He knows that Vishnu and the others already saw this coming as they readied themselves to counter their attacks. All of the bodyguards have a baseball bat in their hands while the others have metal sticks. They were all waiting for them at the end of the hallway. Jerson unhooked his necktie and tangled it around his fist. He clenched his fist before tossing a smoke bomb at the bodyguards. The bodyguards were at least great in numbers of personnel and weapons but what they lacked was the brainiac genius and their plan was sloppy. The bodyguards were alerted as the smoke blocked their vision. Jerson signaled the three to move to the side as he stretched his hand and got to the water pail that was on the floor in the corner. He was the one who stored it there as he knew that the General’s underlings would ambush them, after all, the General was also the one who planned the ambush for him days ago. While the bodyguards were busy looking for the path out of the smoke that almost made them feel dizzy, Jerson spilled the water on the floor and made it reach the bodyguards. As the water spread all over the floor, he pulled the trigger of the electric shock prods and tossed it on the water. The electric shock prods were Empresí’s one high-demand product in Black Market as it has at least 50 volts that are sufficient to drive a potentially lethal current through the body. The prods weren’t meant for self-defense but are ideal for homicide. The bodyguards started to feel pain, numbness, and difficulty in moving their limbs as the shock climbed and spread through their bodies. They made an irritating sound coming from their mouth. Vishnu grabbed Jerson’s hand and pulled him closer. “What the fuck did you do?” Jerson's brows immediately knitted as he witnessed again how fast Vishnu changes his moods like a bipolar being. “Stop gripping my wrist too tight, Prosecutor,” he said coldly. Vishnu glared at Jerson. “Why did you kill them?!” he asked again, almost yelling. Jerson closed his eyes. “It’s because I had to.” “You had to kill?!” Vishnu laughed mockingly. “Are you fucking kidding me right now?” Jerson shoved Vishnu’s hand and gripped Vishnu’s collar. “Let’s stop talking right now because I don’t know what I would do to you if you spill one more word." Jerson's face showed no emotion and his voice was cold as ice. Van immediately stepped in between them and tapped Jerson's shoulders. Jerson immediately let go of Vishnu’s collar and turned his back. After 1 minute and 30 seconds, the prod stopped giving off electricity. Jerson silently picked up the prod and walked at the unconscious men and laid them down like a patient. He then rested a defibrillator chip on their chest. The defibrillator chips are small devices that send an electric shock to the heart to restore a normal heartbeat. They are used to correct a heartbeat that is too slow or too fast and could help the heart start beating again. Van looked at Vishnu. “The prod could not kill a person but lead them unconscious. Jerson always brings defibrillator chips with him in case something goes wrong, that is why your conclusion of him killing them is wrong. He isn’t a killer, dude. If you really like him, I think you should have known that much but you didn't. Stop bothering Jerson," he said before turning his back on Vishnu. Now that he saw Jerson walking away from him, only did he find out what he did wrong. He doubted him and cursed at him. He cursed his Cara. He was regretting it. Looking at Jerson’s back, a hazy memory flashed back. In his memory, a little guy who walks like Jerson was walking away from him too and it was breaking him apart. Vishnu caressed his head as he felt extremely dizzy. It might be the side-effect of the Bouarta Pills he drank to forget his past. Now, he wanted to find out what that past is and why he chose to forget it.
