Chapter 7. Unexpected Meeting

Whether it's a coincidence or not—an accident called fate by the Almighty—at a glance, Fathur saw Arga there. On the beach alone.
Judging from his clothes, it doesn't look like someone is on vacation, just releasing the fatigue of an Arga version. They have known each other for a long time, so it's not impossible that he understands Arga even a little.
Luckily, Argo might not have seen it. Just when he wanted to come closer, Arga had disappeared, and he thought it looked like he was with his friends.
"What are you looking at, anyway? Nuril came with two packets of sweet fragrance.
"Oh? It's okay, darling. Just look at him wrong. Fathur tried to excuse himself. "Let's just go back to the hotel!" he said.
***
"I thought that by going to Bali, I would be able to see fresh things. Eh, apparently not," said Tirta, disappointed.
"I thought that by inviting you guys, I could find fun, but it turns out I'm the one who's stuck here."
"Yeah, just go there. There are lots of motels or nightclubs here, right?  Sean said it head-on.
"Oh, brother Sean, it's as if my brain is a pervert. I don't accept it! Tirta said.
"Come on, let's have a party tonight. I'm sure you'll be addicted once you start. Tirta doesn't want to give up; he just keeps seducing Arga and Sean.
"No, you should be thinking about the future. Get married and have children. Yes, everyone has a past, but your life goes on. Life must go on, bro! he explained.
"I know, you still feel guilty. But after all, Maudy is no longer there. We can't expect someone who is no longer there to see us again. Even if you want to apologise a thousand times, you won't be able to see her again. So, what? You have to ask, how long are you waiting? Tirta started to give advice.
Tirta's statement had actually been in his heart for a long time. What should he do? But forgetting someone you love with all your heart is difficult. Especially when he left forever because of your mistake, even though you weren't the one who did it, at least because of you he left. It feels like a regret that will never end.
"You talk like that, like you've never experienced it. Besides, you don't know what it's like, Ta. " Maybe you have, but leaving a regret because your actions made someone leave you forever without being able to meet or see them again, that is the deepest karma in my opinion," said Sean.
"After all, you said Arga should have moved on? How about yourself? Sean threw one that hit Tirta.
"Don't tell people to get married haphazardly! Because if you like them, it doesn't mean you have to marry them. Marriage is not a game like changing partners or just venting your lust for one thing."
"What's your language, Yan? One-time use. Are you dressed?" Arga felt awkward hearing that.
"Yes, that's a parable, Ga. Don't tell Arga to move on and get married. Now you? I'm asking if you have a partner or not. Don't tell me you adhere to free sex without being married. And as long as you can dip anywhere that produces offspring, Be careful! Karma prevails, Ta.
"I—" Sean cut off Tirta's words because he suddenly raised his hand, interrupting.
"I know that none of us are perfect. Our sins are everywhere, and there are many of them. But I'm thinking, How old are we? We don't have to always be naughty, right? OK, that's fine, but at least when you think about the future, it means something. I'm done with all the risks. Thinking about the future carefully means you have to accept the consequences," Sean explained.
"We don't know what Maudy and Arga's lives were like before. I've only heard about it. I've also only seen Maudy's photo. So we can't just conclude that. And you, Ga— He cut himself off, drank the juice, then continued, Until when do you want to be like this? If you are not ready all the time, there will never be a ready time if we don't want to finish it. Maudy is gone, and you haven't apologised to her family. At that time, you immediately left after the incident took place. You haven't been to his grave to apologise, have you? You should know and be able to deal with the consequences of that action."
"We've never actually had a heart-to-heart conversation. So we're confused about some things that aren't completely true," explained Sean.
"I—" The sentence was cut off when his eyes caught someone there.
He followed the direction of the person's walk until he subconsciously walked along, which made his two friends wonder.
"Why, Ga?" Tirta asked curiously.
"Ah, no. I feel like I'm seeing an old friend," he said. But there's no way Fathur could be here, he thought. It's just possible, considering that his friend also has a business and is quite famous.
"Oh, yes, Tirta and I have a little work to do, and you'll think about it first. Actually, what Tirta said wasn't completely wrong; it's just that the way he said it wasn't right. You know what he's like, right? Raja-Pervert-Acute." Sean chuckled at his own words.
"You're alone, you know! Tirta elbowed Sean in the stomach, making him groan and look at each other, then burst out laughing together.
"Okay, I'll go with Sean for a while. Let's just say that you're picking girls; which one makes you interested, it just doesn't matter. Sean patted Arga on the shoulder and left him alone.
***
After his two friends left, Arga was left alone. Again, he felt truly lonely. In the past, he never felt lonely, even though he sometimes felt lonely. Just because he's lonely doesn't mean he's lonely.
But now he is really lonely. Walking alone amidst so many people on this beach on holiday didn't make his feeling of emptiness any better. There are many beautiful views, from the sea to people playing, dating, and fighting.
He noticed unconsciously that someone was walking over to him and tapped him on the shoulder, making him jump in surprise as he was completely unfocused.
"Hi, how are you? I thought it was the wrong person, but apparently not. Fathur tried to lighten the atmosphere because he knew they were both awkward.
"Ah, yes, ha-hay!" Arga stuttered. He was confused and awkward at the same time. Honestly, smart brains cannot be used at this time. Arga scratched the back of his neck, which didn't itch.
"Yes, it's me. Yes, this is me. How are you?" he asked.
"Um, fine. Nothing was better than this before. Maybe it will be better when I get married," he said with a smile.
"Ah, yes. Do you want to get married already? Arga asked curiously. However, he is curious and wants to know about his old friend, who was always there for him back then. Even though he was disappointed because of his own actions.
"Yes, in a moment. Come over, okay? he asked. "And what about you?"
"Me? I'm like this. How are you? Asked Arga with a sad smile.
"Where have you been all this time?" Fathur asked back.
"I went to Germany. I continued my master's degree, and for almost two years I went to the US. What about you yourself?"
"I went to London. I just came back this year. Only a year," answered Fathur.
And, oh yeah, who do you want to marry? Vacation here?"
"Nuril and I are planning to have a pre-wedding. That's why I told you to come."
“Oh, what?! Nu-ril? W-what is she? He really didn't expect it.
"Yes. What you think is right, Ga, is your cousin Maudy."
Fathur could see Arga's cloudy face.
"What about you? Is there anything you haven't told Maudy's family? Fathur asked.
"A lot, but unfortunately I'm not ready. I don't know what to say," he said.
"Oh, yeah, how is Salsa? Fathur asked. He knew it was a sensitive matter for Arga, but no matter what, Fathur wanted to see the side of an Arga so he could act.
"I don't know where he is. And I don't want to know. The ones taking care of him at that time were my father and grandfather's trusted people who worked for my grandmother," he explained.
"Grandma is healthy, right? Aunt and uncle too?"
"Fine, it's just that— Arga paused his sentence, wanting to see Fathur's reaction.
Fathur, who knew that the words were not ready to be said, only raised an eyebrow, indicating that he was waiting for the words with curiosity.
"I'm lonely," said Arga, then chuckled softly. Sad.
Fathur actually felt sorry for Arga's condition, but what could he do?
"I want to ask one thing, Ga, is that okay?"
"What?"
"If only, huft. Fathur took a breath and exhaled slowly, as if the words on the tip of his tongue were very difficult to convey.
"If Maudy were still alive, would you want to meet her? What would you do? Finally, the sentence came out too.
"WHAT?!" Simultaneously, both voices answered. Meanwhile, Arga just remained silent, not knowing what to do. He was truly sorry.
"Gu-me, I don't know what to do. But he really isn't there anymore," he said sadly.
"I want to tell you something, but it doesn't seem like the time yet, Ga. Maybe in a year or two. I can tell you everything. But now is not the time. Because you can't choose your heart yet. Your heart is still uncertain at the moment. "Oh yes, I'll give you the invitation later," he said, smiling.
"Ah yes, Thur, this is Tirta, my distant cousin and my best friend. Sean has also been a friend and son of a lawyer in my family for generations." Arga introduced them one by one. The three of them shook hands with each other.
"I want to invite you to an event tonight, to have a party, just to celebrate for a moment. But I don't think the conditions are conducive. You know Nuril? He's Maudy's cousin, and I'm sure he's still mad at you. Maybe tonight, after my event is over, I can share stories with you two." While pointing at Arga's two friends. And he really apologised for not being able to invite them.
After asking for Arga's cell phone number, he left from there. Arga is afraid that Nuril will find and see him with Arga, which could provoke a commotion. And he doesn't want to, because both are important to him.
***
"Who?" asked Tirta, patting Arga on the shoulder.
"What?" Arga asked back.
"I don't feel like you've stumbled and lost your memory after meeting an old friend, and now I'm the one who wants to throw you into the sea so that your brain is clean and clear. Tirta deliberately shortened his sentence. Meanwhile, Sean just chuckled.
"I think you're still smart, Ga. So we don't need to explain, okay? he added.
"Who is he? The man you called Thur earlier?" he asked.
"Hatur? Katur? How come his name is Thur? Tirta sneered, making Sean roll his eyes lazily. Arga himself was surprised. Tirta was friendly and slengean, but he could not forget the name of the girl who had just greeted and introduced him five minutes ago. Cckckckck.
"Father," he replied. "My best friend from junior high school knows Maudy and Nuril there," he added.
"Nuril who? Beautiful?" Tirta attacked, which made them both lazy.
"If there is painful karma, I want you to feel it first, so T-O-B-A-T," Sean exclaimed, emphasising the word repentance.
"It's not repentance, it's tomatoes," answered Arga, making them chuckle and laugh at Tirta, who snorted sarcastically.
"Fathur is my best friend, Nuril's fiancé, and Maudy's cousin," he explained.
"Ohhh." The two of them were together like Upin-Ipin, which made Arga chuckle.
"Ha? What?" Tirta asked suddenly.
"Are you serious?" continued Sean.
"I didn't expect it; yes, fate is sometimes funny. You came here on holiday, but instead you met people from the past," said Sean, chuckling.
Tirta and Arga just nodded and continued today's adventures in the water. Because Sean wanted to go surfing, he said.
